Suggestions on AMAeSI course offered by AeSI

A few weeks back Mr pratap, wrote me a mail asking me this

“I want your suggestions on AMAeSI course?”

Well I don’t know what he meant by this question. If the question was to tell him about AMAeSI the course then I would have directed him to this post. Or does he meant to ask me about my experience on AMAeSI, well then I am documenting the same here in this blog since 2004!!!

Since I don’t know what specific topic he wanted to cover  so here I am listing out some of the things that I have covered about AMAeSI course in this blog

This is list of FAQ about AMAeSI the course. I made this presentation as during that time I was getting lot of emails from students of class XII about the AMAeSI course from AeSI.

This is blog post in reaction to a poll question that i have put up and is quite popular. Still now my answer to this holds true. I am waiting for the day when I can change my answer to this question.

This is another query that I receive most of the time about what is the scope of AMAeSI? What are the prospects after AMAeSI?

Looking fro examination centers of AMAeSI exams then look no more. All of them are presented in this map of examination centers.

Another common query and this one is answered by Bishnujee. This post is just the beginning find more.

I might have missed something important so here is the list of the articles that I wrote under AMAeSI

Everything about AMAeSI at one place, Hope this helps.

Love to receive this blog posts in your email then subscribe

Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family - revisited

Back in July 2007, exactly 2 years back I posted this poll "Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family." and the poll is still going on.

As I revisited it I saw that No is still wining. And I found many interesting comparison that people made about AMAeSI. Chief among them were.

AMAeSI course is like AIDS. and Doing AeSI is like walking in a dark alley with a moving target.

Here are some of the reaction that it has generated for that particular question. Please add your comments at the end of it and tell us what will you say if someone ask you,  "Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family."

SREERAJ said on Jun 11 2009, 02:04 AM:
I DON'T THINK THAT AMAeSI IS A BAD COURSE. MAY BE IT WILL BE A TOUGH COURSE. I RECOMMEND STUDENTS TO STUDY AME FIRST THEN GO FOR THIS COURSE WHY BCOZ IF U FEEL TOUGH IN IT,YOU CAN WORK AS AN AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER.

Indranath said on Jun 04 2009, 09:32 AM:
hi 4rnds I want to study AMAeSI from Bengal inst of Technocrats, kolkata. please tell me that what are the subject I have to take in my 1st semester. there is no practical facility in the mentioned college.

RIYAS said on May 24 2009, 11:53 PM:
Hard work n commitment are essential in our life. Going ahead with AeSI for such people doesn’t create any problem, so I recommend only 2 do AeSI.

Shruthi said on Feb 10 2009, 07:24 AM:
AMAeSI is definitely hard but not impossible like how some other people here are saying! I am currently doing my 4th semester and I have passed 8 subjects of Section A. True u have to work much harder than normal BE or B.Tech students but the knowledge you gain is far more than the others students, that’s why the first 20 ranks in the GATE examinations are usually taken up by AMAeSI students! Hard work and determination. As for Job prospects? The sky is the limit. I recommend if your ready to study hard.

SUDHAKAR DARSI said on Dec 26 2008, 07:22 AM:
I TAKEN ADMISSION IN AMAESI INTHE YEAR 2004 I DIDNOT PASSED EACH SUBJECT I STUDIED SO MANY DAY AND NIGHTS MY LIFE WAS SPOILED WE ARE BELONGS TO VERY POOR FAMILY BUT MY MOM WAS SPENDED MONEY TO MY STUDIES MY SUGGESTION IS DONT JOIN IN THIS COURSE IT WAS VERY HARD

THIS IS THE COURSE WHERE U WILL SEE WHAT A HELL IS. THERE IS NO GAIN FOR THE PAIN. EVEN U WORK FOR DAY AND N8T THERE WILL BE FRUSTRATING BACKLOGS. I BEING AN AESI STUDENT I AM ADVICING YOU NOT TO JOIN THE COURSE. BEWARE OF AESI.

e.ramesh said on Sep 10 2008, 04:45 AM:
Many private engg colleges collecting huge fee, no infrastructure, lack of qualified and experienced faculty even no books in libraries, so this is an alternative and economy for middle class people, do this and achieve your goal through this way, many people benefitted by this way

Going for AeSI is like going for target who u can see before moving but once u follow that u will lose most important years I can’t tell how many because only few are the ones who achieve that and the one who achieves is on the seventh heaven so try for btech through competitions like IIT , aieee ,uptu etc. best of luck

Jagdish said on Mar 21 2008, 11:27 AM:
well, I have completed diploma in electronics and telecommunication engineering from IETE-Delhi its also a distance learning course like AMAeSI, now let know something about AMAeSI 1. Its is an govt. recognized course but not AICTE approved or UGC 2. Its very very difficult course, and there are few persons who know about this course 3. Its is easy to says 4 yrs degree course but only few body can pass AeSI within 4yrs. 4. this course is for who they doing service like in air force, navy, or other private companies, if you have lower score in 12th or diploma then try to prepare for JEE, AIEEE, and join IIT, MIT, anna university, UP technical collage, punjab university or other top university in India, or you can study abroad for aeronautical or aerospace engg. but keep in mind that try to avoid AeSI for making your future.

Nirmala said on Mar 18 2008, 07:31 AM:
I am confused. Are we talking about aircraft maintenance course or AME as popularly known? Is AME good to pursue? Pl. advise.

It is the worst course because of this course so many students waste their valuable time & money. don't believe this course it is just like AIDS this course will spoil your career & my suggestion is to continue the regular course. please don't believe this course. because I am one who is suffering by this course from 1ST semester. after joining this course I have realized that this course is having no value at any cost

Debabrata Bhowmick. said on Jul 18 2007, 08:05 AM:
I just cant recommend other for this..as we know its too tough to clear all the papers within 4yrs..even we r not satisfied with our paper checking, question pattern, so AICTE approval degree is better. at least they can complete their degree within 4yrs. so just forget about AESI.

No I will never recommend it to anyone, I’m not saying that this course is bad but the whole process of this course is nothing but a torture, and these r not my words this is from someone who holds a responsible position in society itself. well in my words, the society authorities r just for namesake, whenever we try to communicate with them they abuse us, well apart from that when u somehow complete it, then starts real problems, no recognition, unpaid trainings, treatment like an uneducated laborer. a graduate from any regular college will be given better salary for the same post but not to us. the process most of the time takes so much of time that we after completing it end up somewhere else, coz in this whole frustrating and long journey we loose our passion and energy , we forget y we joined this particular course and we in end satisfies with whatever comes our way, coz there r people waiting for us to complete, they r dependent on us, n they have almost lost hope on us. so if in the end if we r going to satisfy with anything then y opting for this torture. go to any other college and feel the college environment , coz I really feel that in this whole process I missed this important thing of life. some people may not agree with me but all this I have personally experienced and I can tell u the names of so many students and graduates who r going through the same n heading towards satisfying for anything. so I will never recommend this course for anyone.

Will I recommend AMAeSI?

Like every year, this time of the year I always get this or similar
query. This year I have got this query more times than I could ignore,
so here's my answer once and for all.

AMAeSI as a BE graduate program is great. It has produced many good
engineers and as AMAeSI graduates in the industry has stated again and
again, that they feel AMAeSI has given them all the knowledge to be
the best in the world.

If you have a doubt about the quality of the program, shed them right
here. Search this blog for "proud AMAeSI" and you will see all
testimonials praising the program.

That being said, "Will I recommend AMAeSI to my younger brother/sister?"

The answer is a big NO!!!

Yes no. No no and no.

Quality of program is one thing. But what really matters is what the
brand is. AMAeSI as a brand is very poor. Partly because of its
distributed nature but mostly because of AeSI!

The governing body which conducts this exams, do not do anything else
for the students and graduates. The body that has the responsibility
of lifting you, here discards you. The body which has to be your
ardent supporter just turns the other way.

And when the Gardner himself has no regards for flowers of his garden,
how can you expect others to respect them.

And yes till now, I have not talked about the passing rate, not about
the erratic question patterns, not about the shabby distant treatment
of students.

So if you are thinking of AMAeSI, just after class twelve. I will urge
you to find a different way. Do not trod this road?

Please search this blog for more info and I hope you will get a fair
idea.

Good luck.

Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family.

In the year 2007, i ran a online poll among the members of OURAeSI club on the topic, "Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family."! the poll was a success as it evoked lot of reaction in the ouraesi club. For those who don't know, ouraesi is an online community of aesi students and members. There we discuss and disiminate information about aesi and aerospace.

This are the results of the poll. 57% of those who polled said No and 45% did say yes.

Though this numbers don't tell the whole story. Read the accompanying comments to decide if you are the one thinking of doing AMAeSI!

5 things not to do in AeSI for AMAeSI exams

In today's post I will discuss 5 things NOT to do when you are in AeSI
and aiming to clear AMAeSI exams. They are from my experience of going
through aesi. Hope they will chart a path for you and you will avoid
them in your journey.

1. Don't skip the in basics
I did this in fluids and though I passed the subject in first attempt,
but I had a tough time when I encountered those basics again in
aerodynamics-1. So remember to cover the basics before you delve
deeper. In mathematics II, basics came handy for me as the paper
revolved around it.

2. Don't forget the syllabus book
As discussed in many previous post, you will automate and streamline
your study schdule if you study a subject with the syllabus book. Not
only syllabus gives all the topics in logical order but it will make
sure you don't miss any.

Further reading
Http://my-aesi.blogspot.com/search?q=syllabus

3. Don't skip exams, whatever be your preparation.
This happened to me, I thought I have not prepared well for principles
of flights and so I didn't go to the examination hall. That turned out
to be a grave mistake when I saw the question paper, later that
evening. And that mistake cost me two semester in which I had to study
flights. So whatever be your preparation, don't skip the exams. If
nothing more you will train your mind to be the examination hall.

4. Don't lie about your results.
After the exams don't lie about your results especially from your near
and dear onces. I have seen how students falsedisguise their results
and cause tension and anxiety in them. This lie snowballs and not only
spoils your next attempt but also hurts your near and dear once when
they come to know about it. I have never done this and this had kept
me inso many surprises that AeSI threw at me during my days of AMAeSI.

5. Don't be an island.
Since AeSI has no proper institution, meeting and having lots of
seniors and friends and network is rare. So form relationship. Use
internet, this website, ouraesi, aesi and aesiaa groups to be
connected to the aesi community!! In fact this website and ouraesi

AMAeSI results - where and when will it be declared

When will AeSI's declare the amaesi results? This is the question that
is popping up in my email everyday now.

This time aesi has delayed the result of June 2009 longer than I have
seen.

Frankly I don't know when aesi plans to declare amaesi results, but I
have a feeling that it will come out this week. So wait till Friday.

And for those who are searching for amaesi results at www.amaesi.com
aesi.org, don't waste time it will only be declared at aesi's official
website at www.aerosocietyindia.com.

So keep an eye on that.

Best if luck!!

If you are new at this website then please feel free to explore the
site for it catters to everyone who is related to AeSI!!

Which is the best study center for AeSI?

Recently in OURAeSi and in AeSI groups, this is the hot topic is regarding the best study center for AeSI! I think it will interesting to highlight some of the good points there, so here it is.

Setu Desai began the debate by asking the following question...

I am going to join Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering at Dehradun. There are two corses "Aeronautical Engineering" & "Aircraft Engineering" I want to know difference between this two.

Mr Desai,
Instead of joining at Dehradun, and getting your time and money wasted I would suggest "Ganesh Institute of Engineering, 71/6, Goods Shed Road, Adambakkam,Chennai- 88 (Tamil Nadu)"

The Courses you asked for :
Aeronautical Engineering : This is a graduate course (A.M.Ae.S.I. ), whose examining body is "The Aeronautical Society of India, 13B IP estate New Delhi"

Aircraft Maintainanace Engg : Its diploma course through which a candidate becomes a specialized maintainance engineer after passing the prescribed subjects and successfully gaining the stipulated period of experience at Airports/maintainan ce workshops

If you want to go for AMAeSI course than there is no other better place than Ganesh institute, Chennai (gie-1978@eth. net; )

Best Wishes
Shashank Sharma

Hi,
Its really disappointing to note that so many AeSI Engineers who are based in India have been unable to come up with decent Study center with practical labs facility in one of location in India where maximum students can benefit from such venture. There is no point of running Institutions without proper lab facility like any Engineering Colleges. So far only HIET,Chennai has labs of some standard for new syllabus of AeSI.I am not sure about labs facility of other Colleges running AeSI programmes in India.
I hope it helps.
Best wishes
Bishnujee Singh

Hi,
Don't go there. I studied there. The institute does not provide good knowledge.
Exam will be in Delhi. Better to go chennai. Ganesh institute of engineering, St. Thomas mount, Chennai. This is very cheap & best amount all other institute.
all the best

Hi,
I studies AMAeSI in Indian insitute of Aeronautical engineering (IIAE), Dehradun & Ganesh institute of Engineer (GIE), Chennai. I found that student passed from IIAE paid very high amount of fees, does not get guidance & competition amount the group. You may be only single who pass section -A in IIAE. I saw 90% student who left AMAeSI without clearing any subject, Where as in GIE, I found that few of candidate have finish their degree (AMAeSI) in 2.5 years followed by 3 years to maximum four years. Very few about 10% candidate may left without even single subject.
regards

Vasudevan asked ...

Dear sirs,

I have finished my 12th std this year with good marks.I am from Chennai.Joining Aeronautical engineering was my ambition right from my young age and i joined that group in Hindustan university Chennai. Many people are saying that i have taken a wrong decision by joining that college because it has become a deemed one this year only. I have paid fees and my coll is going to open shortly. Now my family members also started thinking that way. Please make me clear.I have heard many people saying that my coll has the best lab facilities for this branch. Please tell about my college and also my decision.I am pretty confused right now. Please Help.
V.Shraveen

Bishnujee Singh replied...

Dear Vasudevan,
I don't think you have made any mistake by joining there.Till you study honestly for your Aeronautical Engineering Degree ,you should be fine in your prospective career. No schools or colleges study, its the student who studies honestly and with utmost dedication shines in there future career.
Please remain focused in your studies, that is most important thing in your life.
Best wishes

Jannani Ameer's reply

Mr.Shraveen ,I am jannani doing my final year B.E Aeronautical in Hindustan Coimbatore. You need not regret for your decision. Don't care about others telling you about this course or your college.Among some of the colleges in TN your colleges is the best for Aeronautical Eng. So don't bother about people who says tat u r wrong.Wat u have to do now is don't expect ur coll or ur professors to feed u the syllabus.Instead ,be advanced, gather the materiales and start studying on your own. maintain at least 75% consistently.Be confirm in what branch u r interested (designing, maintenance, space, pilot training, air force) and work for tat right from now. If u want any help via this field you can contact me.I ll try my best to help u.Wish u good luck.

I personally recommend GIE as its the best in terms of studies and most of the past and present students of AeSI are from there only!!

AMAeSI result

If you wondering when the results of amaesi exams is going to come,
then don't wonder. It's always been out in august and this semester
seems no different.

If I know aesi correctly then the results will be due in begining of
the second week of august.

So stop thininking about the results, get a copy and plan out your
next semesters routine. Don't wait for the results to plan. Get into
the study mode now. Setup a minimum hour that you will put and start
the walk.

No need to be grand and ambitious in planning but begin taxing now.
Roll the ball and keep the inertia going.

So if you are waiting for the amaesi results, you have two choices.
One is to just wait and watch and the other option is to slowly get
your engines started. The choice is yours.

Did you have any idea what AMAeSI was?

When I was I was in AeSI one question that was always asked was how did you came into AeSI? The majority of answers were related that they got an advertisement in papers and then got a call and they just joined. Majority answered that before joining the institutes for some IIAE, Dehradun, for some AIE, or for some institute from Indore. they haven’t had an idea idea what AMAeSI was? They were just lured into it? so I was wondering today? With internet penetration increasing in India? What is the current state of affair? What will be the answers to this question if someone asks it now? So AeSI guys who are reading this post please feel free to post in your response in the comments…

Well I think for majority, the situation has improved and when they come in AeSI they basically know what it is all about? So tell me how you got introduced to AeSI? Did you have any idea what AMAeSI was?

What's the top percentage for amaesi degree?

A few weeks back, I went to world education fair. Lot of universities
representatives were there.

We interacted with many and one particular remark that remained with
us was from someone in a uk university.

After understanding amaesi degree, he said he was impressed by the
people who are working with this degree in top aerospace companies,
but I want to know what is the maximum percentage of top.

He understood that in Anna university 80+% is top but same was not
true for Pune university where 70% was the top rank. And he wanted to
know what was that limit for aesi degree?

We managed to say 65% because this is what we all felt was the top
percentage we heard from an amaesi graduate.

I want to put this question to you, what is the top percentahge that
you have heard of an aesi graduate. I am not talking about section a
or section b percentages. I am looking for the overall percentage.

So chip in and let's settle this once and for all. Send your mail,
comments here and get a definite answer!!

Career After AeSI

AMAeSI results were just announced and as always there was a mail from Bishnujee for all the AeSI graduates. Very encouraging and useful mail for anyone regarding options that AeSI graduates have after AeSI.

Dear AeSI Graduates,

Congratulations to all new AeSI Graduates and I hope they keep up the good work in future. It always advisable for new Graduates whenever they career-after-amaesigraduate that they try not only newspaper openings but also try all avenues ,sometimes openings are remain unadvertised and if you are able to get in touch through mail or email, you should be able to get better opening than OJT through AeSI. Also don't blindly follow what your fellow Graduate or senior mate is doing in there career. Every case is individual basis and many not be viable for every individual.

Your main stress after AeSI should be to get first job with companies like Airbus,Bangalore, Quest, Infotech, Patni, Satyam, Wipro, TCS as starting point. Try getting into project which are in Aircraft manufacturing sector rather than Research sector unless you have mind set up to be in Research arena in your future career.

The reason why MTech/ME/MS is not advisable in India immediately is that there is no guarantee that you might be ending up in your first job in similar field. Its always advisable to work for 7-8 years after AeSI before venturing into ME/MTech/MSc coursework based on your field of work for those 7-8 years. You will gain professionally better that way.

There is also other side of it based on individual back ground or his ability to pull off scholarship from places like Royal Aeronautical Society,London or AIAA,USA,CASI,canada or family support from India for further studies like MSc/MS in UK/US/Canada/Australia to meet CEng Licensing Academic requirement which is minimum accredited MS/MSc from these countries only. Your experience after MSc is only considered for registration with EC-UK.Usually RAeS pays for full tuition & maintenance fees if you are successful with them in obtaining one of prestigious scholarships. But its on competitive based from applicants across the world since RAeS is present in all 5 continents of the world. There is no harm in trying such option as it gives you chance to succeed. Details about there programme available on www.raes.org.uk

Try first of all for Scholarship options and if that is not possible usual financial support from family or bank in India which is usual practice in 98% cases for Graduates from India.

I hope it helps in your decision making in your future career.

Best wishes

Thanks Bishnujee.

If you have further questions regarding options after AMAeSI, please free free to post them in the comments, I will try to answer them.

Why do after result analysis?

I have no idea if the AMAeSI results are out or not. If you know about
it please do let me know.

What should you do after the results are declared?

Analyze it. Do a post mortem and see ascetain why you got the marks
you have got.

This is an important exercise. If done honestly, It can tell you more
on how to study for the next semester than anything.

Results give you hard numbers and your analysis will help you make
sense of those numbers.

For a successful semester, the logic is simple, repeat the things that
were successful and eliminate the once that might have cost you marks.

And analysis of results helps you figure out these things.

Good luck and be a star!!

This year I tested two new interface for the blog and also tested Google adverts for the blog and many other unique things that I would have never learnt if I weren't blogging

January

January began with a mail from a trainee in NAL and then there was good news for AeSI community and then I wrote one informational post regarding special information for AeSI student members and informed u about 59th AM of AeSI. Wrote about GPA and a small post regarding MS in aeronautical and turbo machinery in UK and US. Then there was Bishnujee’s response to AeSI's student membership cancellation after 8 years. and I end the month with Mistakes fresh AeSI graduates do in their interview.

February
AGM news in Hindu and waiting and announcement of results were the major news in this month, followed by announcement of Tata's entry in aerospace domain. Then I also did AeSI section A results comparison. and had some problems in posting... and wrote after exams what

Apart from this tools in aerospace and highlighted a cool tool to find tutorials and other eBooks for learning catia, solidworks. Apart from CAD programs I listed some useful jobs links for AeSI graduates and gave a general structure of a cover letter and talked about will I recommend AMAeSI to my friends and family. Informed about IIT course materials on YouTube.

I also gave general advice on 6 things that you should do in your last semester.

July

This month began with an unsuccessful contest that I ran, told you about how to accelerate your job search, resume sending tips and asked you are you taking gate 2009 exams?

I answered the question I want to work in core field, told you about Olympics and aerospace connection and updated you on the farnboroug air show and DAE university's decision to cancel aerospace and aviation program. Asked you which is the best study center for AeSI and advised AeSI students on things to do before they begin a new semester as we speculated about AeSI results and criticized IIT video lecture series and ended with tips on getting training and jump starting your next semester and stated tips to get employed after graduation.
