3 glaring mistakes recent graduates shouln't do during job search

I have been writing this resume tips and things related to job hunting quite a lot for past couple of weeks and my friend and former roommate who have just cleared AeSI, is the main inspiration behind all of this.

I want him to get a good job and get a head start in his career. Its been almost 2 months since he has become an engineer but i had not seen anyone of the company calling him or taking him seriously . So i wondered what might be the cause, Since interviews came through the resumes, i decided to ask him to show me his resume.

After 3 and 4 reminders and 4 weeks delay i finally saw his resume and frankly i was disappointed and hurt!!

There were many glaring mistakes and shortfalls in that resueme and the hurt came from the fact that i have written so many things before here but he never applied them in his resume...

But fortunately i saw it and made him see his mistakes.

Before i go in for his resume analysis there were some other factors that i noticed that a new fresher from AeSI should abide by.....

First thing that any fresh graduate should have is a separate account in naukri.com, monsterindia.com or other jobs site. My friend when i asked didn't have one. He just went to those sites and checked the requirement and then applied for the once he liked. Thats not the best or the optimum way. YOu need to create an online profile which can be accessed by the recruiters and then there is the feature of alerts. which is only available and relevant jobs come only when you have a good updated profile on those sites.

Secondly as i said earlier, i saw his resume only after 3 or 4 calls. He was lazy. Sending resume is not the first part, having good guidance and being proactive is the mantra for job hunting. Sitting passively just likes chickens on egg will not yield anything....

Its good to have friends and colleagues refer your resume, but that's not enough. Have a profile and search for your job yourself. Just sending your resume to some guy who came to your room and asked you to send is not enough, go to the guy's company's website, check what the requirement is and if that is not listed, check the nature of work the company does and then modify and update your resume accordingly and shoot it.
