Take pride in AeSI

Hi everybody

Once again I will be posting a mail that Bishnujee has posted in the aesi club. I liked the stuff and appreciate the work being done for the aesi folks. A big thank you to him and other for working towards that…..

So without much adieu here’s the mail. I have highlighted the portion I liked best and believe in.

Thanks for your highlighted problems. There has been numerous reasons behind very low pass percentage.Poor teaching and training centres and adequate facilities not at disposal to AeSI Students.I had been in AeSI Program after my fresh pass out after Matriculation and so had to pass AeSI Studentship along with Sec A & B.That has 5 subjects of AeSI Studentship along with Sec A & B.Those days in mid 90s IIT Chennai numerous Staffs from Aerospace Dept used to actively support teaching and training program for AeSI Coursework. So we used to have best of teaching stuffs.Things have changed since these professors retired from IIT Chennai and now AeSI students have to deal with new modified syllabus course work which cannot be completed in decent time frame unless teaching and practical facilities of University level is provided to AeSI Students.I don't know whether this was discussed by AeSI Governing council when they decided to go for new syllabus.Until this problem is resolved passing percntage will continue to remain low.

Also Students joining AeSI program should be recommended that they have certain pre-requisite course work upto certain standard level to pursue the program.Students shouldn't forget that the AeSI program and career they are entering into is application of Physics and Mathematics stuffs.Unless they are very strong in these subjects there success rate will be low.

Even those AeSI Students who are passing out with less than 60% should have decent career option after same and this stuffs need to be reviewed by AeSI Officials with Universities under UGC in India and also with recruitement official of Indian Aerospace firms.I am sure that they could come up with some sort of decision which would help the students Graduating out to pursue decent career.

AeSI Students and Graduates along with AeSI Officials are requested to co-ordinate with each other to promote and have better future for AeSI Students & Graduate and these can only be resolved by mutual discussion and better co-ordination.There will be no progress by criticising each other and self destructive crticism of AeSI and its officials.AeSI Students and Graduates should bear in mind that there identity is through being AeSI Graduate and if they don't take pride in whatever they are doing with AeSI,then no one would be respecting them and they would never be able to grow.

As all of you must be aware that currently I am involved with Engineers Mobility Forum in UK & USA and Professional Licensing Board in USA to ensure that all Indian Qualifications are recognised at same level as any of the local US & UK Qualifications.Things have been going out in favourable direction and we hope the future should be better for new generation.

AM Qualification should be covered with concurrence Bachelor Degree in Engineering and this is urgent need of hour and AeSI Officials should look into this matter seriously and I am sure that there is no better person that Air Cmde Raghubir Singh to take up this issue with AeSI Officials.

I would actively request all AeSI Students & Graduates to support Air Cmde Singh in his mission for growth of AeSI program and I believe he understands all of you people concern better than many other people in Aerospace Industry and I would be glad to see him in AeSI Academic wing in time to come.

AGM draft agenda - demand your rights !!!

I don’t know if you read Mr.  Shiladitya Bhowmick’s email. But her I am posting it here in myaesi blog so that who read this instead of the group mails can come forward and be a part of the discussuion.

I must appreaciate the efforts of Mr.  Shiladitya and I think it’s the right time now for getting a draft a document and make consolidated effort to present student’s view at the AeSI AGM!!

So people, come on. Come forward with your suggestions and views!! Its your future that they are playing with!!

 Shiladitya Bhowmick wrote :

Hello Everyone,

Hope all of are doing great in life and work!! This time AGM will be at Chennai in December. I am writing this letter to the group to discuss few of the serious issues relating AESI's administrative procedures. I had been following Mr. Sukhbinder's & some other mails and I highly appreciate their concern for AESI.

As the subject of the mail tells half of the story. But I would like to elaborate it with some case studies. There is no proper feedback from Delhi HO regarding any matters..Aeronautical Society of India is supposed to be the professional guardian of all the student members..but things which are happening at the back stage ..no one knows!!

POINT 1: One of the Graduate got training in Air India (UNPAID) and had been working there since last 15 months on an UNPAID basis and still  he hasn't been able to get a suitable job in civil aviation coz every airlines is asking for experience. MR.R.C.GOYAL calls up Air India office now and then and tells them to terminate his training as i believe AESI has made "the so-called " rules of not giving training for more than a year.

It's not even that some one else is waiting in Queue for Air-India training...its not even that AESI has to give stipend for the candidate..its not even that Air-India is having any problem with his training..Then can Mr.Goyal give us a proper justification of his actions and trying to stop him to make a career out of his own efforts!!

Mr.Thulasidas is the new President of AESI and he must be aware of all the whereabouts of AESI .. Is it believable that a single opening hasn't come to an AESIian in 15 months in Air-India and the guy hasn't been eligible to apply in Air-India..but this is fact!!

Of what I have heard ,there were 20-25 Grads. last year..I would be very keen to know how many Grads.has been assisted by AESI post their degree to get a Job/Training!!!

POINT 2: A GRADUATE called up Delhi HO to terminate his training at HAL ,Hyd as he got admission in MIT,Mr.Goyal tells him "WHY HAVE YOU CALLED ME?? "

Whom are we suppossed to call ....If Mr.Goyal is so bored / disinterested in holding the secretary position of AESI , why is he taking this pain for AESI!!

there are numerous people who are very efficient to take care of the proceedings. There had been numerous incidents like this where he behaved in a very rude manner and i don't have to tell that as i believe every1 must have experienced/experiencing that in their AESI period!

POINT 3: Why is there no proper response/feedback from Delhi HO...I would like to mention Mr.sukhbinder's mail regarding this...every year they put the pass from each center and why this year its a cumulative way....If someone asks for any answer,Mr.Goyal would say ,this decision is by the Governing Council...!!any small matter is discussed in The Governing Council Meeting..So wil he kindly tell us who is part of the Governing body and who are taking these decisions or is he the Governing Body himself and taking decisions ??

POINT 4:Another GRAD called up HO regarding his training after his degree.See the response they give from there --"AREE YAAR..TUJHE BHI LINE BHI LAGA DUNGA !! "

another Grad calls up  Mr. goyal to re- confirm the urgent letter he has sent to HO regarding admission in MIT .He says-"What u want me to do? TO GO TO POST  OFFICE AND COLLECT IT FOR U??"

Is this what AESI all about..?? All AeSI guys had been working very hard to finish their degree and after all this what he get to hear is this!! Aren't they making fun of it and is this a kind of behaviour AESI officials are supposed to do with a Member of AESI..!! Student community make AESI and so who has given them the authority to behave and tamper the image of AESI..!!

POINT 5: Why  are AESI students restricted from getting a normal entry  into IITs,MIT?? Every1 knows what has happened this time regarding admission at  MIT,Anna Univ.(Just to let guys know that most of the national level semninar at MIT is sponsored by AESI )My question is why AESI guys has to struggle in every sphere just to convince people that AESI is a VALID degree.Wouldn't the situation been better if AESI "GOVERNING COUNCIL" takes some actions regarding this!

POINT 6: AESI hands a Life Membership card with Sig. of Mr.Goyal after completion of degree.it is supposed to be meant to attend any meeting of AESI...etc.There are instances where the guy was restricted from getting into the AESI International Seminar as they believe he is not a member of AESI.We would like to request AESI not to take the pain of making the CARD which is for no good !!!

POINT 7:As far as i know,Mr.Goyal is not attending any AGM since few years..is he too afraid to face the students or what??

  SUGGESTIONS:

*All alumni of AESI should come up for the cause and make a council (in co-operation with AESI) which would look for the future growth of student members after their AESI degree. In this regard ,I would like to thank Mr.Bishnujee SIngh,Mr.Raghubir Singh, and numerous others for their unconditional efforts they are doing silently for the betterment of AESI Students.

*All Grad. members should have the right to know the proceeding of AESI..how much revenue is been collected..how much is spent on officials..and how much for betterment of AESI..

I would like to throw some light on a very interesting figure Mr.Sukhbinder put few months back..that 75% - 80% of AESI revenue comes from the Students and only 9% is spent on Stipend ..where is the rest of the revenue ??

THIS LETTER IS JUST A DRAFT VERSION..I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FEEDBACK /RESPONSE  FROM ALL THE AVENUES OF AESI COMMUNITY --ALUMNI'S ..STUDENT MEMBERS..IMMEDIATE GRADS...

PUT UP ALL YOUR FEEDBACKS/SUGGESTIONS AND THEN WE CAN MAKE AN INTEGRATED VERSION OF THIS  AND THAT WILL BE ADDRESSED DURING THIS AGM.

NOW AESI modified syllabus has come with the backing of AICTE and there are more students making their membership but as far as i see...with the continuing trend in the administration....things doesnt look much encouraging..all the youngsters after their +2 might not know all this & getting enrolled with high expectations & hopes are heading to a Dead-End...!!

2008 a review of myaesi – your chance to catch up!!

2008 is ending and many of the blogs I follow and read are coming up with their internal review of the year for 2008. This gave me the idea for this post. I will give month by month update on what has happened in this blog. This year I tested two new interface for the blog and also tested Google adverts for the blog and many other unique things that I would have never learnt if I weren't blogging

January

January began with a mail from a trainee in NAL and then there was good news for AeSI community and then I wrote one informational post regarding special information for AeSI student members and informed u about 59th AM of AeSI. Wrote about GPA and a small post regarding MS in aeronautical and turbo machinery in UK and US. Then there was Bishnujee’s response to AeSI's student membership cancellation after 8 years. and I end the month with Mistakes fresh AeSI graduates do in their interview.

February
AGM news in Hindu and waiting and announcement of results were the major news in this month, followed by announcement of Tata's entry in aerospace domain. Then I also did AeSI section A results comparison. and had some problems in posting... and wrote after exams what

March
Tips on resume from satyam, and I exclaimed about no enews from AeSI and asked you all best way to search job....and discussed  two basics questions regarding resume and how to prepare for interview and also warned graduates of AeSI on how to send resume and how to edit resume in a professional way.

April

No April fool for this month as I wrote about one cardinal rule that one must remember about interview. and posted my first ever Friday links. and posted about aerospace events of the week and about a new catia training centre launch.and touched upon 3 glaring mistakes AeSI graduates do. And posted links for online GATE preparations and preparing for aerospace interview. also shared GE interview questions, solidwork video tutorials, open letter to anna university.

May
May was the busiest month. posted about catia video tutorials, tips to pass AeSI exams,do and don'ts for AMAeSI exams, DRDA SET, and announcement of AeSI exams.

Also posted 7 signs of unprofessional resume. how to fail exams, tips for getting most of revision and revisited how I cleared my workshop exam and posted the map of examination centers of AeSI along with the announcement of Berlin air show and ended with actions that will take your career ahead.

June
This was the exam month and apart from exam related stuff I posted about industry CAD usage data, and informed you about the technical interview questions after DRDO set. Apart from this tools in aerospace and highlighted a cool tool to find tutorials and other eBooks for learning catia, solidworks. Apart from CAD programs I listed some useful jobs links for AeSI graduates and gave a general structure of a cover letter and talked about will I recommend AMAeSI to my friends and family. Informed about IIT course materials on YouTube.

I also gave general advice on 6 things that you should do in your last semester.

July

This month began with an unsuccessful contest that I ran, told you about how to accelerate your job search, resume sending tips and asked you are you taking gate 2009 exams?

I answered the question I want to work in core field, told you about Olympics and aerospace connection and updated you on the farnboroug air show and DAE university's decision to cancel aerospace and aviation program. Asked you which is the best study center for AeSI and advised AeSI students on things to do before they begin a new semester as we speculated about AeSI results and criticized IIT video lecture series and ended with tips on getting training and jump starting your next semester and stated tips to get employed after graduation.

august
This month began with important dates for gate 2009 and then I listed catia training centers in India. And talked about various things related to AeSI, like prospects after AMAeSI, 6 reasons to do training after AeSI and listed 3 websites every AeSI students should visit.

apart from the I listed the problems with AeSI degree and had a system crash and ended with tips to apply for job requirements and remarked why IIT lectures are boon to AeSI.

September
This month began with quantity vs. quality debate and reposted
Bishnujee 's message of take pride in AeSI degree. told you about kung fu panda advice. and this month saw the launch of solidworks 2009 and I saw my worst resume ever. Told you about 3 things my mentor at NAL taught me and did a section a analysis of AeSI results, and urged students of AeSI to make syllabus book there friends. also informed you about few important changes in gate 2009 format that you should know about. and argued about having your network for AeSI graduates and students. And also posted advice from rolls royce.

October
I began this month by talking about the AeSI communities on web and reacted about the worst resume of my life. I touched subjects of NAL training and how to became consistent like Australian cricket team and asked AeSI graduates to remember certain things after they pass out of AeSI. and informed you about the chandrayaan project. I also shared study tips that I learnt from my math's teacher at GIE. and then had a long delay.

November
Most of November I was out of station and I had a long delay, and posted Pratt and Whitney single core fan. and became my shorted month of posting this year.

December
I told you about why I write this blog, about inertia, and shared 4 tips on handling exam anxiety and told you about Vijay Malaya and shared an important lesson that my boss at NAL taught me and asked you to see the biggest full moon of the year.

well this is what I did on the blog for the whole year. Do let me know if I missed on something important. I would like to thank all of you for reading what I have to say. I hope in year 2009, I will be more consistent and will add value to AeSI student and graduates life. Do share your experience with myaesi with me. Thanks and happy new year everyone!!!

Feel free to email this to your friends!!

Take pride in your AeSI degree

The moment i saw this mail and saw it was from Mr. Bishnujee. I knew i have to post it here. It needs a wider audience. It iterates the view that i have. Pride in your degree. Once you are in it. Believe in it. and Believe in yourself. As i have already pointed out here in this post that self confidence in our own degree is the need of the hour for AeSI.

Yes i do stand by the previous post of problems with AeSI degree and my unwillingness to recommend to my cousins. But i am as proud of the degree as anybody. From my experience at NAL i have told you already, AeSI guys are more than at par with the best aerospace engineers. All they lack is this belief in themselves. Many have previously pointed out this here, here and here. As i have seen this in my training days, if you are an AeSI engineer, take it to your heart that you are the best. If you have cleared AeSI honestly. You are equal to any aerospace graduate in the country or the world. And Bishnujee is the shining inspiration to us all!!!

Following is the mail of Bishnujee addressed to fellow AeSI graduates, engineers and students.

Dear AeSI Engineers & Students,
In recent times there has been sharp increase in criticism about AeSI Degree from various AeSI Engineers & Students. The pride in being AeSI Graduate is gradually fading out among newer generation of Aeronautical Engineers.I am not sure about the reasons behind it.If AeSI Graduates were not having strong Aeronautical Engineering background, they would never have received the Cayley Award 2003 from all major Industries of UK at Buckingham Palace in London on Nov 10,2003.
I know one major reason behind poor Examination result has been lack of proper training facility for AeSI students. There has not been enough pre-requisite check of students joining this programme which leads to student struggling in same. But anyway any Professional Membership Examination whether it is for AeSI or Engineering Council-UK examination for RAeS,UK where result is much lower than AeSI programme ,is never easy course work .
But as I have advised all students & Engineers coming out of AeSI to take pride in whatever you do in life.Until you take pride in whatever you do in life and feel confident that you are best in profession, you will always be lacking behind among your peers and fellow Engineers.
These are the qualities no Universities or Institutes can impart in you and you are solely responsible for developing yourself. What you learn in AeSI course work like hand calculation is the basis of Analysis of Engineering programmes which helps you decide whether the design is acceptable or not. Even if you work on Finite Element Modelling tools like Patran, Nastran,Ansys,FEMAP ,result you get should be compared using hand calculation to check whether they make sense or not and if there is any modelling error. These things you cannot do unless you are sound with you calculating and numerical skills of AeSI Course work in Solid Mechanics,Applied Mechanics,Strength of Materials,Aircraft Structures.

As I have mentioned numerous times in past that first choice after AeSI Graduation should be to work in Industry for few years, build strong foundation and based on your experience in Industry, then go for MS/MTech/ME in your career which you have been following. It helps in selecting right module which you have been working upon and you won't need further brush up while working at site or registering as Professional Engineer. Always bear in mind that AeSI Graduate with 3 years Engineering experience as full time Engineer is better than MS/MSc/MTech//ME with 1 year experience.Always Industry would prefer BE with 3 years experience in Industry first for job compared to MS or PHD with 1 or 0 year of experience.
There is no substitute for Industry experience. When I mention to you guys Industry Experience it doesn't mean working as Mechanic or Technician but only Design or Analysis Engineering whether in Aero Mechanical or Avionics Designing or Propulsion Design & testing.

Also Engineers who opting for Higher studies abroad are advised first to explore the Scholarships & Assistantship options as it might be expensive proposition doing it abroad since due differences in economy between different countries.RAeS UK administers Scholarships for MSc studies in UK.Please do bear in mind that applicants for RAeS Scholarships are not only from UK but from all across the globe with applications coming from NASA based Engineers,South African,European and Australia based Aerospace Engineers. So its highly competitive and one should be clear with his personal goals how MSc is going to benefit the Aerospace Engineer in his career.Just to mention that practical part of MSc is going to add his further knowledge acquired from AeSI won't be sufficient.Normally Industry only when its expects candidate to be very promising and excel in career is offered such competitive scholarships.Apply quite in advance before start of such course to avoid disappointment.
AIAA USA administer scholarship for MS Studies in US too.

There is no gain in criticizing AeSI Degree ,instead it would be better if you all who studying for same remain focused towards studies and do well in your exams and prospective career.Unless you have confidence and pride in yourself you will never be able to achieve any mission in life even if you get Degree from some very reputed Universities of the world leave aside AeSI.

I hope above information helps in achieving your goal.

Best wishes

As you can see he is passionate about this and i share this feeling. There's nothing wrong in expressing the wrongs of AeSI but what will ultimately matter is your pride and your self confidence. So be proud of the degree you have because if you won't then no body else will!!!

AeSI, Education and AeSI's aerospace eng

A recent mail of bishujee prompts this post. In the mail Bishnujee
asks students and graduate to not to post just the negatives of aesi.
I can understand his concern. There is also positive side of aesi. In
fact, in this blog I have posted writing of many aesi engineers, who
have hailed aesi and it's education.

I do love amaesi and I am proud of it. And I see lots of aesi
graduates do share the similar sentiments.

It's this degree and education that enables me to work for the world
second engine manufacturer. It's with the same education that i see
lot of aesi aerospace engineers doting all the major and minor
aerospace companies of India and world.

Aesi engineers are everywhere from Airbus, Rolls-Royce, HAL, NAL,
ISRO, Boeing, NASA, satyam, TCS, infosys, ansys, Honeywell, GM, GE,
Goodrich, Altair..... you name any aerospace firm and look around you
will find an aesi aerospace engineer!!

From CAD to CAE, from CFD to design, from avionics software
development to performance, every field is covered by aesi. From top
to bottom, aesi enginners are making there mark.

Click on the following links to find all those posts where aesi
aerospace engineer at some point of their career declare "we are proud
of aesi!!!"

http://my-aesi.blogspot.com/search?q=anupam

http://my-aesi.blogspot.com/search?q=pride+in+aesi

Please share your positives experience about aesi here.

As I have already mentioned earlier. Always remember, if you don't
respect your degree, no one else will!!!

Software,Training and AeSI graduates

Someone from Hyderabad AeSI had the following queries

hello sir ,

I have just completed my AESI, IN HYDERABAD I came to know about this site and registered myself today. I have not received my final marks list  yet. I have seen that you have done many programming languages . I haven't done nothing other than the course. I don't have any proper guidance here in Hyderabad. so please tell me should I learn any soft wares ?.and  some of my friends told that we would get an apprentice training letter after completing the course,is it true. And do companies take AeSI fresher? are their jobs for AeSI graduates. I have so many doubts, please give me guidance. hoping that you will send a reply soon

Instead of replying to his question in an individual email I thought its better if I answer them here so others too can join in the discussion.

Please tell me should I learn any softwares ?

aesi-training-softwares-used-by-aesi-graduatesBy all means learn software, they are the tools of the trade so one shouldn’t be shy in learning them. So what are the software that AeSI graduate should learn. I have already mentioned software tools used by aeronautical engineers list, you can start with these. For computer language please do go ahead and at least have one language under your belt. Here in the post titled SUCHANDSUCH where I elaborated why you should learn a programming language.

If you don’t have access to any of the software tools mentioned and are apprehensive of any programming language then by all means take up excel as this is the most used tool in the engineering domain. This is one of the software that will be very much be a part of your work life so learn it, excel in it.

Some of my friends told that we would get an apprentice training letter after completing the course,is it true

Yes its true, You might want to see the notification on AeSI’s website at aerosocietyindia.com for information in this regards. Moreover having certificates and training before getting a job is always a good thing, They are some of the things that a new graduate of AeSI can highlight in his or her resume apart from the educations. This is also an opportunity when you acquire skills required for the industry.

And do companies take AeSI fresher's?

Yes they do. Just as any other engineering graduate you have a chance to be a in any company. In all aerospace companies that are in India, you will at least find one AeSI engineer. So take heart and go ahead. All you need to get a job after AeSI graduation is confidence+skills. Here’s a list of companies that I have in this blog where I mentioned some of the companies AeSI graduates are working in. Its bit old and need updating, but I am sure it will give you and idea about the spread of AeSI graduates in the Indian and world aerospace industry.

Are there jobs for AeSI graduates?

By all means, jobs are available for AeSI Graduates. You do have the best knowledge, you just need to add on the other skills to get off to a great start. I will recommend reading this series that I had a while back to set yourself to a great start in your career. As I have already sated ideally landing in a job just after your graduations depends on what you do in the your last semester. So read it here.

Well this were some of the answers that  I knew answers too, I have barely scratched the surface, I am sure many of senior AeSI graduates will have there own inputs so sing them here in the comments. What do you think? How is the industry receiving AeSI graduates?

Prospect After AeSI Graduation!

Good Morning Gents,

I request all senior AeSI Members who occupying the positions within AeSI and the various branches throughout the country to share the responsibility for Placement for AeSI Graduates after course completion and there Post Graduation programmes in India and outside. There are number of issues you all need to sort out:

1) AeSI is still not listed on Ministry of HRD website .All initiative by AeSI HQ has not been fruitful in this regard.

2)AeSI Engineers should not be restricted to 60% for getting into future employment. There are numbers of AeSI Engineers who were placed with Quest ,Wipro and other places without 60% crietria on my personal request.I see no reason why other AeSI Members who are running the official position in AeSI cannot do same in case they are genuinely interested about welfare of AeSI Graduates.

3)It has been time that AeSI HQ takes up the matter that all Universities under AICTE cannot discriminate AeSI Engineers in there admission policy of Master's programme.
There should not be 60% criertia for PG admission as University/Colleges exams are not following the same assesment criteria like in AeSI program. So there is no question of equivalency of Grades.

4)Its time Members present in India show some initiative to present new generation of AeSI students with Quality Education. The new syllabus is rigorous and needs good training center for student to complete in decent time.AeSI was planning to open its training center in mid 90s and I am not sure what happened to the plan.

I would be highly obliged if all of you show bit of interest in development of AeSI Engineers.
Its not always possible for me in my official capacity  at NASA Goddard Space Center to contact with Indian concern and Institutions due to time difference and busy schedule.
If you guys are holding responsible position in AeSI,please ensure that you are doing justice to same.

All of you guys help in this regard would be very much appreciated.

Best regards

Top Stories at MY-AESI for the Month of July

my-aesi top catia nastran stories July is the month when student of AeSI are free, not with Colgate tooth paste. But free from studies :). After the exams either they are home or are pursuing other interests. For some it’s the month to come to Bangalore for further training and other stuff. So I thought lets check what were the most popular pages of my-aesi this time and this is the list of the pages that were popular July month on my-aesi.

Special information for AeSI students
This is an information I posted about AeSI ‘s announcement of not continuing the old syllabus. So from this semester onward, there will be no distinction between modified and un-modified syllabus.

What are your views for the modified and unmodified syllabus? In one community that I am member of most of members were in favor of the modified syllabus. I have had a glance at that syllabus and I guess it’s more relevant and structured and although you get more subjects but it includes good stuff and is really well. If I were to do AeSI again, I will choose the modified syllabus.

Where can i learn NASTRAN and CATIA?
This is an old post that keeps popping out. It was the post that I wrote back in June 2005 after the AeSI exams and waiting for AeSI results to be announced. It was the time when I was lazing around in my home town Kolkata and was searching for a CATIA and NASTRAN institute. I researched some of them and travel to some and that post basically sums up my conclusions. It’s still relevant and I hope to add to that topic as soon as I get time. I hope some of you guys who are in this phase of searching and are researching can update us all by putting in your comments in that post and thus making the post more relevant.

Learn CATIA with this book!
This is a fairly a new post that I remember I wrote while my daughter was playing in my lap. It’s about CATIA book that one can use while learning the software. Lots of tutorials are available in torrents for CATIA, but as my friend Kuldeep said, a book is a book and if you truly want learning then nothing can beat the book in hand experience. Read the post for other links to CATIA model that you can practice and learn.

What's common in Beijing 2008 Olympics and Aerospace!
This post was about the thing that Beijing Olympics 2008 and Aerospace has common. Read the post to find out more.

What is DRDO SET? and Are you giving DRDO SET exams?
This are fairly recent posts, where I was wondering why AeSI folks have stopped talking about it. Has DRDO lost its charm among the AeSI folks? Here I also presented experience of former AeSI’ans who did crack the exam and lived to tell us there experience at the DRDO interview……read it for some interview giving tips.

What is the best place to study for AeSI?
Perhaps it’s the buzz of aerospace; perhaps it is the news of aerospace companies getting preferred supplier tags or something. There were many queries from students of class 12 who want to do aeronautical engineer…. And many asked about the colleges of AMAeSI and what is AMAeSI. So the above post was the snapshot of the discussion that were going on the yahoo AeSI groups about the best place to study for AeSI.

Future of aeronautical engineer!
A relevant post that will truly inspire you. A post where bishnujee points out some of the things that I really feel close to.

Please do visit the links and comment and make this pages more relevant, so that when another AeSI folk is searching for a CATIA or NASTRAN institute he doesn’t have to wonder around!

Bishnujee's open letter to education minister

This is the open letter of Mr.. Bishnujee singh to Dr. K Ponmudy, Minister for Higher Education Govt of Tamil Nadu regarding changes in admission of Aeronautical Society of india's addmission for ME program at Anna university.

Sub# Request for changes in Admission for Aeronautical Society of India 's Engineering Graduates for ME program at Anna University.

Honorable Dr.K Ponmudy,Sincere compliments of the day.I had earlier conveyed my displeasure to Dean and VC of Anna University regarding there frequent changes to admission policy of Anna University towards Professional Engineering Graduates from Aeronautical Society of India

The changes in admission policy has been done when currently Fresh pass out AeSI Graduate Engineer is topping the ME programme in Aeronautical(Avionics) Engineering at MIT ,Chennai currently. It has been astonishing to note that when we are heading forward in 21st century,Anna University has been heading in reverse direction in 20th Century. It has been brought to my notice that the concerned reputed Anna University has made changes to admission policy after its 11th Council meetingto Professional Aeronautical Engineering Graduates from Aeronautical Society of India for ME Aeronautical Engineering program, should be possessing 2 years Post Qualification experience in order to secure admission in your reputed University programme. It has been surprising to note that Aeronautical Society of India's Engineering Graduates have been admitted in Sheffield hallam University England for there MSc in Engineering Program,Prestigious Penn State University,USA has admitted current fresh pass out Graduates from AeSIin there MS programme in AerospaceEngineering,University of Southern California has already MS Degree holders with AeSI as first qualification, University of Missouri,USA has also offeredplace in there MS program for current pass out AeSI Graduates, Salford University MS in Aerospace Engineering program in England and AeSI has been listed as Approved University list from India on University of Miami,Florida,USA,Arizona State Universityfor MS in Aerospace Engineering program and all major Credential Evaluation bodies has given AeSI same status like any other Indian University in India.Boeing Company,USA accords AeSI Graduates as same status as ABET Accrediated BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from USA University. AeSI Graduates in past have numerous laurels at IIT Chennai last year Techfest 2006 and also recipient of First Ever Cayley Award 2003 in England by Royal Aeronautical Society,London. http://www.csirwebistad.org/aesi/pages/cayleyaward03.htm

Everything proves that AeSI Engineers have proved to be more successful in there career as Aerospace Engineer than Graduates from Other Universities like IITs ,MITs,IISc and already Boeing,NASA and Airbus where AeSI Engineers have executed successfully in many reputed Boeing 787 Programmes in USA,Airbus A380 programmes in UK and also in NASA's programmes.

I am aware that numerous staffs of Anna University are on Academic and governing council of AeSI,India and this incidents and discriminatory against Professional Engineering Graduates of AeSI is ridiculous.More over you people must already be aware that almost 98% of AeSI Graduates are full time students and it has been mentioned even in AeSI Registration form regarding that.I think they should quit AeSI Governing council before taking such ridiculous decisions.

I would be glad if you could take necessary measures to correct the process of admission for Professional Graduates in Master's program and remove the 2 years criteria for Aeronautical Society of India AeSI Engineers.

Kind regards
Bishnujee Singh

Is Training Really Necessary for AeSI Graduates?

A week or two back there was mail from Mr. Bishnujee Singh regarding this same topic.

Dear AeSI Engineers & Students,
I have noted that in recent years that AeSI Engineers after course completion are opting for easy way out of having practical training paid or unpaid in various facilities provided by AeSI. Please be advised that its always better to have difficult route of going through Written test and Interview and prove your self best in Aerospace Engineering sector.

If you guys have studied honestly for AeSI, there is no need to be feeling scared or insecure. I had been through same AeSI Graduation and I never opted for Practical Training or OJT offered by AeSI since I was hired immediately after AeSI Graduation as Scientist (Engineer) proper role and had also qualified with Engineering Services Exam using same AeSI Graduation. It all comes down to level of commitment in your studies. Please be advised that OJT or Practical Training is not accountable as Position of Responsibility as far as Professional Development of Engineer goes.

I hope all new AeSI Engineers will keep this factors in mind when doing there Professional Development.

I read this above mail of Mr. Bishnujee? First thing that came to my mind was what the heck is he talking? But after some moments contemplation I realized the full meaning of his words.

I have a friend who waited for 4 months to come to Bangalore to do OJT provided by AeSI. All this time he was at his native place. It is this kind of students Bishnujee was aiming in that mail! Yes as I said this in my previous post that your last semester in AeSI is the most important. If one is keen and follows the tips I laid there, he or she might not need OJT or unpaid training. It’s his skills and knowledge and the AMAESI degree that will land him a job.

I am not saying training is irrelevant, but as Bishnujee pointed out it’s not the only option. If you are well prepared, then landing a job won't be difficult.

Confidence + degree + skills = job

After AeSI, this is the recipe for landing a job. So if you can develop this 3 while studying for AeSI then you need no training.

What are your thoughts regarding this? IS training really necessary ? Do share your views in comments.

An open letter to Anna University from Mr. Bishnujee

Outlets for AeSI community on the web

When i was AeSI there was no outlet or community for AeSI students. Only the college or the institute you studied for were your only community. During that time not getting a good answer for what stream to choose for section a. I asked my question to a scientist in NAL. But that brought the thought of uniting all AeSI students. And I began OURAeSI group.

But now the scene has changed and there are so many outlet for AeSI students on the internet. Here I'll summarize some of them that I know of. I might miss some please point me those in comments.

Secrets of AeSI.

What a topic. Someone will say are you mad? Are you crazy? Who knows about this?

It’s like answering what is love? And every person has his or her own opinion. Well true and I am not denying that but then also they write on that topic then why not write on this one.

Well without further delays lets get on.

AeSI secrets are not nuclear, nor are they atomic that you have to bring out a microscope to see them they are more common which sometimes we fail to notice.

First secret is believe that AeSI is not invincible. Remove any doubts you may have that you cannot clear AeSI that you may have. Many have cleared it and many more will. All you need is a focused, dedicated preparation and no-mistake uneventful exam and you are in the safe side of AeSI. First positive step you might take is to stay focused in your preparation and in exams stay concentrated.

More often than we care to think, it’s the exam fright; exam goof ups in the examination hall that cost us the ever-elusive 50% marks than our preparation.

So jot this point in your memory.

Second secret of AeSI is there is no tough subject, no easy subject. Every subject is as important as it can be. All that is required is preparation. "Yeah yeah what do you know?” you may say, but this is coming from a guy who gave flights 4 times before he finally cleared. It only experience in AeSI that I claim that for. All you need is right positive attitude and the right focused preparation. I have seen AeSI guys preparing for flights for the 5th time but they all have one thing in common they are all negative. They don't show confidence. Oh what will happen in flights, what will they ask? No one asks oh what have I left? But will ask what if he asks instruments. They hanker more on what they don't know than knowing and learning what they don't know.

Another common mistake is i didn’t have enough time in exam. Well exams are taken to see how resourceful and time punctual you are they are there to see other than your knowledge how do you manage a pressure situation.

Third secret of AeSI is that there is no such thing that ”This will come, this will not come!!!” I don’t know what and how the exam papers are set, but one thing I have and many of you must have noticed and learned from AeSI papers is that don’t predict the topic of question that may come and not come it never works in AeSI. Believe me. I have first hand experience as in case of P2 paper in my time when my paper was an exact 70% copy of the immediate previous semester’s question!!! And take the recent paper of VMD, when the paper setter completely ignored the governor, flywheel and went off-track thus shocking every VMD examinee.

So stay away from “this will come and that will come routine”, the further you are from this argument the better it will be for you and more pleasant will be your experience with AeSI!

And last of all, While in a 7 days site seeing visit at Rai Barrelli , we were introduced to an AMAeSI engineer who was some head in IGRUA. I don’t remember his name, but I do have clear picture in my head about the middle age boyish man, grinning at us, as we gathered around him. There with a smile he announced to us, “Complete this degree, and then sky is the limit!” I believed that guy that day and I still believe him and if you do believe him, so keep working hard!
