Is Training Really Necessary for AeSI Graduates?

A week or two back there was mail from Mr. Bishnujee Singh regarding this same topic.

Dear AeSI Engineers & Students,
I have noted that in recent years that AeSI Engineers after course completion are opting for easy way out of having practical training paid or unpaid in various facilities provided by AeSI. Please be advised that its always better to have difficult route of going through Written test and Interview and prove your self best in Aerospace Engineering sector.

If you guys have studied honestly for AeSI, there is no need to be feeling scared or insecure. I had been through same AeSI Graduation and I never opted for Practical Training or OJT offered by AeSI since I was hired immediately after AeSI Graduation as Scientist (Engineer) proper role and had also qualified with Engineering Services Exam using same AeSI Graduation. It all comes down to level of commitment in your studies. Please be advised that OJT or Practical Training is not accountable as Position of Responsibility as far as Professional Development of Engineer goes.

I hope all new AeSI Engineers will keep this factors in mind when doing there Professional Development.

I read this above mail of Mr. Bishnujee? First thing that came to my mind was what the heck is he talking? But after some moments contemplation I realized the full meaning of his words.

I have a friend who waited for 4 months to come to Bangalore to do OJT provided by AeSI. All this time he was at his native place. It is this kind of students Bishnujee was aiming in that mail! Yes as I said this in my previous post that your last semester in AeSI is the most important. If one is keen and follows the tips I laid there, he or she might not need OJT or unpaid training. It’s his skills and knowledge and the AMAESI degree that will land him a job.

I am not saying training is irrelevant, but as Bishnujee pointed out it’s not the only option. If you are well prepared, then landing a job won't be difficult.

Confidence + degree + skills = job

After AeSI, this is the recipe for landing a job. So if you can develop this 3 while studying for AeSI then you need no training.

I can’t hold this open letter back. So I am posting this open letter by Mr. Bishnujee Singh to The Registrar Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. It concern regarding admission of AeSI professional graduates to IISc on the basis of AeSI degree alone.

It has been surprising to note that Aeronautical Society of India's Engineering Graduates have been admitted in Sheffield hallam University England for there MSc in Engineering Program ,Salford University MS in Aerospace Engineering program in England and AeSI has been listed as Approved University list from India on University of Miami,Florida,USA for MS in Aerospace Engineering program and all major Credential Evaluation bodies has given AeSI same status like any other Indian University in India. Boeing Company, USA accords AeSI Graduates as same status as ABET Accredited BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from USA University. AeSI Graduates in past have numerous laurels at IIT  Chennai last year Techfest 2006 and also recipient of First Ever Cayley Award 2003 in England by Royal Aeronautical Society, London.

I am aware that numerous staffs of IISc are on Academic and governing council of Aeronautical Society of India and rule being discriminatory against Professional Engineering Graduates of AeSI is ridiculous.

 

Currently on our kind request Vice Chancellor, Anna University has consented to admit AeSI Graduates for there ME program in Aerospace Engineering at Anna University, There is no need for applicants to have two Bachelor Degree's to be admitted for ME program at IISc and AeSI Degree alone is sufficient for ME program at IISc. Currently I am working with Engineers Mobility Forum team to get Indian Engineering Degrees to be recognized in USA and UK, European Union and PE Licensing Board. Till date no Indian Degree is recognized outside India by ABET, USA

  

I would be glad if you people in India could take necessary measures to correct the process of admission for Professional Graduates in Master's program and resolve this issue which has been pending for long time.

The changes in admission policy has been done when currently Fresh pass out AeSI Graduate Engineer is topping the ME programme in Aeronautical(Avionics) Engineering at MIT ,Chennai currently.It has been astonishing to note that when we are heading forward in 21st century,Anna University has been heading in reverse direction in 20th Century.It has been brought to my notice that the concerned reputed Anna University has made changes to admission policy after its 11th Council meetingto Professional Aeronautical Engineering Graduates from Aeronautical Society of India for ME Aeronautical Engineering program,should be possessing 2 years Post Qualification experience in order to secure admission in your reputed University programme. Everything proves that AeSI Engineers have proved to be more successful in there career as Aerospace Engineer than Graduates from Other Universities like IITs ,MITs,IISc and already Boeing,NASA and Airbus where AeSI Engineers have executed successfully in many reputed Boeing 787 Programmes in USA,Airbus A380 programmes in UK and also in NASA's programmes.

I am aware that numerous staffs of Anna University are on Academic and governing council of AeSI,India and this incidents and discriminatory against Professional Engineering Graduates of AeSI is ridiculous.More over you people must already be aware that almost 98% of AeSI Graduates are full time students and it has been mentioned even in AeSI Registration form regarding that.I think they should quit AeSI Governing council before taking such ridiculous decisions.

Further Studies in US,UK,Canada & Australia after AeSI

Couple of weeks back, a reader of this blog had some questions regarding the validity of AeSI degree abroad and where to pursue a Masters in Aeronautical/Aerospace engineering?

 

 

 

Is AMAeSI valid/approved abroad? If yes, what else will I need to apply? When should I start?

So I forwarded her mail to Bishnujee who I think was in the best position to answers her queries. Well here’s the reply that Bishnujee gave.

Yes you can pursue MS/MSc programme in any of the countries abroad. The programme is accredited for further studies & employment not only in India but also beyond Indian subcontinent.

You need to apply early for US,Canadian Universities as the admission in these countries close a year in advance. In UK admission process is faster and it may be completed in less than a month. Some of the basic check you need to do before you plan to pursue your MS/MSc programme. How the program is going to benefit you in your future career and whether the country has liberal Immigration policy which will allow you to switch to Employment after completion of studies.
Immigration policy changes from time to time and so do careful research on this front before you decide to pursue MS/MSc program. Also try applying for Scholarship/Assistantships whenever you decide to pursue such program as it might be costly option to pursue same without any support. There are numerous bodies like Royal Aeronautical Society,IMech,UK ,AIAA(USA),CASI (Canada) administers scholarships for Qualified Engineers. Usually they cover full tuition fees and maintenance fees for full programme. Only if you are not successful you should consider option of Bank Loan or whatever other means as Scholarship is purely on merit. Aeronautical Engineers from The Aeronautical Society of India are treated at par with same level as very best of Universities awarding Aero Degree world wide. It all comes down to your interview process with the awarding body for same. Try doing search on Google or other search engine about Immigration policy of that country before thinking of pursuing MS/MSc in those location.

Some European countries has strict immigration policy,its better to consider UK as it has swiftest immigration policy for Degree Engineers who completed MSc there. Also they make you academically eligible for CEng(EC-UK),but you will need to be working in Aerospace sector for 7-10 years after MSc from UK University to be eligible to be interviewed or tested by them for CEng.

US used to be good destination for pursuing MS in Aerospace though Immigration policy has been changing and getting tougher here.H1B Work Visa has now been under Lottery system which was different during 2004 when I landed here just based on Job Offer from Boeing Company in Seattle and they sponsored for my H1B & Green Card without any lottery system which makes it bit game of luck and not the safest thing to do in life. NASA,Boeing,Lockheed Martin accepts your AeSI Degree at par with ABET accrediated BSc Aeronautical (Honours) Degree from US University.So you guys should be fine on that part and most US Universities like UK one have listed AeSI as Degree Awarding Insititution from India.

Waiting for aesi exam results read this inspiring email from Bishnujee

Are you waiting for the AeSI exams results. I think everyone who has given AeSIexams in June 2008 is waiting for them. A while back bishnujee mailed an inspiring email regarding this time. So i am re printing it here as it contains some solid advice that every AeSI students should keep in mind.

Many happy returns of the day. I know you guys must be waiting for your results anxiously at moment because AeSI results are around the corner. Just advise for you guys that if you pass the subject,get going with your next target and if you miss any subject,just forget that if you have appeared before in that subject and start as fresh.I know it too difficult to prepare again.Then AeSI Coursework is made like that and sometimes if you are unlucky you might get question on calculations from Rocket propulsion which you will struggle to locate in any book. I am aware of that. Hopefully this sort of error in question paper is supposed to be sorted out in future.

Also another thing I wish to inform you guys just when I advise you regarding studies or placement or how to go about doing with it in your career. Its only my personal experience and it upto you to follow it in your life or not. I advise based on my past experience since I did my AeSI ,after my X standard when I when I was still studying for XI,I appeared in Studentship Examination and got success with it in AeSI when I passed all 5 subjects at one go and still was in XI.So I didn't look back and went ahead with Section A where I had measure how much study was expected of me and I went ahead that time with passing Section A in June and December session together in 1 year and then Section B in 3 Semester. Thus due to shortage of time frame,I may had to put that extra bit effort to make up by studying prolonged hours which scared my best friends. Then things never come easy in life and we all have to do very hard work. Always do take pride in whatever you do in life. I have seen that those qualities make you competitive in life and its very important that you build up this quality in life because its foundation of success and how you do well in life in future.


AeSI or any institute is not good or bad,its the student who studies is good or bad and make marks in Aerospace community by his dedication.If you study honestly towards your goal,no one can stop you from achieving your aim. Just message to all AeSI students and Engineer that I am always there behind you in all your mission and goals. Always remember that on 10 Nov 2003 one AeSI Engineer was recipient of restigious British Cayley Award 2003 chosen by all British Aerospace Industries together from Her Majesty Queen at Buckingham Palace in London.That was the most memorable day in my life and its always once in life time achievement which every Aerospace Engineer dreams of.

Recognition of The Aeronautical Society of India ceases after 31st May 2013

Subject: Recognition of The Aeronautical Society of India ceases after 31st May 2013

Dear AeSI Engineers Members,

 

All students and members are requested not to take any further admission/registration in ongoing AME Examination until MHRD Government of India & AICTE issues approval of the program.

 

As per memo issued by MHRD India Government its illegal to admit any students for Associate Membership Examination until fresh recognition is obtained from AICTE.Since March 01,2013 has been date provided by MHRD advising all Professional Societies including The Aeronautical Society of India to file fresh proposal of program delivery and recognition with AICTE.

 

Till such date recognition is obtained from AICTE new students enrolling in such programs will be doing same at own risk despite instructions from MHRD Government of India,not to allow fresh admission which was issued twice on July 10,2012 and December 06,2012.All Associate membership Examination recognition ceases after 31^st May 2013.

 

As National Assessor for Professional Engineers for Engineering Council-UK IMechE(UK) Assesors and Engineers Australia  and for Professional Engineers in USA & Canada,we would review after 31^st May 2013 whether this Degree holders from The Aeronautical Society of India can be permitted for Employment or Further studies in USA,UK,Europe,Australia,

Canada based on status of AeSI  with AICTE after 31^st May 2013.

 

New students advised not to apply for fresh admission in any such professional degree program till fresh recognition is obtained from AICTE.

Here's the mail that Bishnujee wrote address all the aesi students after the june 2008 amaesi exams. I like most of it and I have made the part bold that every aesi students should follow if he/she wants to excel in his/her career.

Dear AeSI Engineers & Students,

I believe all of you done with your AeSI June Semester examination and all of you should have given your best for same.Just wanted to inform you guys that this year some AeSI Engineer has been admitted in Cranfield University,UK for MSc in Propulsion Engineering . Cranfield is rated at same level as Havard Business School in UK for Aerospace Engineering and the intake is low and carefully screened out.


Still as I have advised most of you that most important aspect in your career should be your experience after AeSI Degree completion and there is no substitute for that whatever career you choose for in future.As you might now already be aware that IIT,IISc,MIT Graduates work in same companies in same position just like any other AeSI Graduates working for this concern.Also AeSI has now been accrediated as British Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering which includes Old syllabus Engineers too by Department of Skills & work ,UK Govt (NARIC,UK) which has been good news for AeSI Engineering Graduates.

Another aspect which all AeSI Students should take care of during academic period is that they need to have through knowledge of subjects to excel in there career and there should be not be attitude of just going through previous question papers to pass in this examination. Open Letter to Ministry of HRD by Bishnujee

The following is the text of the email that Bishnujee has sent to the Ministry of HRD. Love the work he is doing for AeSI folks.

 

Dear Prof R A Yadav,
S incere compliments of the day.I wanted to draw your kind attention that AICTE & Ministry of HRD need to take careful about the Degrees & Diploma issued by Universities & Professional Institutions. Serious problems have been faced by Applicants to US Immigrant Visa where there applications has been rejected by USCIS Immigration Officers challenging the terminology used by Indian Institutions. I would be glad if you people can kindly look into this issue and recommend changes.

In recent times cases has increased at a rapid pace and the matter has been referred to me where I had to personally intervene with USCIS Immigration Officers regarding such issues.These issues can be very well taken care of by Academic regulating bodies like AICTE,Ministry of HRD & others.

There are certain Professional Institutions like Institution of Engineers (India),Aeronautical Society of India ,IETE(India),IME (India) who award there Sec A & B Qualifications which is recognised by Govt of India at par with BE/BTech from Indian University.These qualifications has been under scrutiny of US Immigration officers as they want to check whether these Professional Membership Qualification are indeed Degree Qualification since they have been using the term Section A & B on there completion certificate and it doesn't state anywhere on the same that it is Degree certificate.

Only IME (India) among these Professional Institution has been issuing Certificate with term Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Rest all of them have been issuing under there own terminology like Completion certificate or Associate/Graduate Membership certificate. This has led to plenty of Graduates from such Institution being denied Immigrant Visa.

I have been discussing with USCIS on individual case basis ,but I would be glad if this terminology issue is taken care of by regulating bodies from India,so that there Graduates don't face such problem in Foreign nations.

Professional Membership Institutions need to be very clear regarding there professional Exams which allows them to award Degree certificate or equivalent,since mixing of Membership title with Educational Qualification Title can lead to serious issues. For Example: Any Commercial Pilot License may be Graduate Member of Aeronautical Society of India and higher membership Grade. So he cannot be considered as Professional Degree as per rule.

That's why they need to be careful with Professional Examination Qualification title. Only IME (India) has so far been issuing terminology " Degree in Mechanical Engineering" which looks better than other terminology.But there need to be parity between terminology used by these Institution to avoid discomfort to there Graduate Engineers.

Take pride in your AeSI degree

The moment i saw this mail and saw it was from Mr. Bishnujee. I knew i have to post it here. It needs a wider audience. It iterates the view that i have. Pride in your degree. Once you are in it. Believe in it. and Believe in yourself. As i have already pointed out here in this post that self confidence in our own degree is the need of the hour for AeSI.


Yes i do stand by the previous post of problems with AeSI degree and my unwillingness to recommend to my cousins. But i am as proud of the degree as anybody. From my experience at NAL i have told you already, AeSI guys are more than at par with the best aerospace engineers. All they lack is this belief in themselves. Many have previously pointed out this here, here and here. As i have seen this in my training days, if you are an AeSI engineer, take it to your heart that you are the best. If you have cleared AeSI honestly. You are equal to any aerospace graduate in the country or the world. And Bishnujee is the shining inspiration to us all!!!

Following is the mail of Bishnujee addressed to fellow AeSI graduates, engineers and students.

Dear AeSI Engineers & Students,
In recent times there has been sharp increase in criticism about AeSI Degree from various AeSI Engineers & Students.The pride in being AeSI Graduate is gradually fading out among newer generation of Aeronautical Engineers.I am not sure about the reasons behind it.If AeSI Graduates were not having strong Aeronautical Engineering background,they would never have received the Cayley Award 2003 from all major Industries of UK at Buckingham Palace in London on Nov 10,2003.
I know one major reason behind poor Examination result has been lack of proper training facility for AeSI students.There has not been enough pre-requisite check of students joining this programme which leads to student struggling in same.But anyway any Professional Membership Examination whether it is for AeSI or Engineering Council-UK examination for RAeS,UK where result is much lower than AeSI programme ,is never easy course work .
But as I have advised all students & Engineers coming out of AeSI to take pride in whatever you do in life.Until you take pride in whatever you do in life and feel confident that you are best in profession,you will always be lacking behind among your peers and fellow Engineers.
These are the qualities no Universities or Institutes can impart in you and you are solely responsible for developing yourself. What you learn in AeSI course work like hand calculation is the basis of Analysis of Engineering programmes which helps you decide whether the design is acceptable or not. Even if you work on Finite Element Modelling tools like Patran, Nastran,Ansys,FEMAP ,result you get should be compared using hand calculation to check whether they make sense or not and if there is any modelling error.These things you cannot do unless you are sound with you calculating and numerical skills of AeSI Course work in Solid Mechanics,Applied Mechanics,Strength of Materials,Aircraft Structures.

As I have mentioned numerous times in past that first choice after AeSI Graduation should be to work in Industry for few years,build strong foundation and based on your experience in Industry,then go for MS/MTech/ME in your career which you have been following. It helps in selecting right module which you have been working upon and you won't need further brush up while working at site or registering as Professional Engineer. Always bear in mind that AeSI Graduate with 3 years Engineering experience as full time Engineer is better than MS/MSc/MTech//ME with 1 year experience.Always Industry would prefer BE with 3 years experience in Industry first for job compared to MS or PHD with 1 or 0 year of experience.
There is no substitute for Industry experience.When I mention to you guys Industry Experience it doesn't mean working as Mechanic or Technician but only Design or Analysis Engineering whether in Aero Mechanical or Avionics Designing or Propulsion Design & testing.

Also Engineers who opting for Higher studies abroad are advised first to explore the Scholarships & Assistantship options as it might be expensive proposition doing it abroad since due differences in economy between different countries.RAeS UK administers Scholarships for MSc studies in UK.Please do bear in mind that applicants for RAeS Scholarships are not only from UK but from all across the globe with applications coming from NASA based Engineers,South African,European and Australia based Aerospace Engineers.So its highly competitive and one should be clear with his personal goals how MSc is going to benefit the Aerospace Engineer in his career.Just to mention that practical part of MSc is going to add his further knowledge acquired from AeSI won't be sufficient.Normally Industry only when its expects candidate to be very promising and excel in career is offered such competitive scholarships.Apply quite in advance before start of such course to avoid disappointment.
AIAA USA administer scholarship for MS Studies in US too.

There is no gain in criticizing AeSI Degree ,instead it would be better if you all who studying for same remain focused towards studies and do well in your exams and prospective career.Unless you have confidence and pride in yourself you will never be able to achieve any mission in life even if you get Degree from some very reputed Universities of the world leave aside AeSI.

I have already completed my 12th standard and I would like to join the AMAeSI course.I am very much interested in doing it.Can you please suggest me any good colleges who give training for this course?Further I would like to go for higher studies abroad after completing the degree.What are the prospects abroad after completing the degree from aeronautical society?I know i am asking this question quite early but I feel, sooner the better.

HIET Chennai,GIE chennai are some of good colleges for AeSI coursework.Yes you can pursue MS in Uk or US after AeSI. Also you can work also in overseas like any other overseas Aerospace Engineer.The programme is accredited by Naric ,Uk on behalf of department of work and skills ,Uk as British Bachelor Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering which allow you to work and study anywhere in world since you get additional British degree certificate after completion. I hope it helps in your career.

As promised I  would  to  write  something on my meeting with Mr. Bishnujee Singh.

This I am doing for the benefits of the people who were not able to meet him  due  
exams or  other reasons.

Since so many days have passed and I can't  boast of a crystal memory, so all I will 
pen is what I have retained and remember. Another thing is the lettering may not be 
exact what Mr. Bishnujee said  but the essence is same.

Clad in a white t-shirt with Boeing 787's front view jutting out  from the chest region, he 
sat in one corner of his hotel room in front of his open laptop, while we, four of us , 
circled him.

Introductions  apart  he  moved on to the themes  and the discussions that  were 
interesting  revealing and inspiring. 

Here I try to present  his advice on various things.

On finding jobs:

Don't  only  just  go for the newspaper jobs, These  mostly come out at last resort or as  supplements. So  when you are ready, just send in your  resumes direct to the hiring  managers!!!!!  Reference do  play a part so select it carefully.

On general mood of the aesi people.

Change your attitude, be proud of what you are doing.  Know and believe its one of the 
best course that  you are doing. Know your worth. And  instead of looking  on the 
negative people of aesi  but see  bright  sides  like anshuman etc and so  many others  who  are and have achieved  success. Face the sun and all shadows will fall behind!!!!!

On studying:

Read  entirely. read with passion and with full dedications. Studying for AMAeSI is a full  time job. Devote your full time to it. Save yourself from part time jobs craze unless it  helps in your professional development.

On Mtech:

As  my views in ouraesi, its  more important to  get  some good experience in some 
blue-chip  companies than studying  oceans and HR in IIT's!!!!  The  world  comes to 
India not to get a manager but and engineer. So  get those skills.

On studying abroad,

Well  I insist on UK  because its much more easier to  get there and study than US 
and one should  have a minimum  work exposure so that they don't feel alien  to the ms  courses offered!!! 

Well  that's  it for  now. This is the only  thing  I remember right now, will write back if I 
remember something else. And  yes,  as I said the wording may not be exact same 
but  the essence is totally same.

But  before I close I would  like to add  a thanks to  Mr. Bishnujee for the time  and the 
effort he took for all of us.  Its  great to see a person making a difference. And like the  
Boeing 787 soaring on his t shirt, I wish him all the best for his  career and wish it to 
soar new heights!!!!

 

 

Further Learning Programme with AeSI for meeting Chartered Engineer status in UK

Dear AesI Engineers & Students,

I have informed you guys in past that you would be requiring MSc as Further Learning Programme with AeSI for meeting Chartered Engineer status in UK.Please be advised that Chartered Engineer status in UK will allow you to meet PE Status in USA without any further examination in states like Washington,Texas and Arizona. I would like to inform you about changes regarding same after accrediation status of AeSI from NARIC,UK as British Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering which allows you to do any recognised MSc programme in UK to attain chartered status.Please do bear in mind that ME/MTech from Indian Universities will Not be meeting the standard of Chartered Status with EC-UK.They will need to do same MSc again in UK to meet the requisite standard. Also advise to current batch of AeSI Engineers pursuing MSc in UK currently need to be patient with there first job in UK.Please do bear in mind that in overseas lots of factors including your visa status and others play key factor in your hiring.Duration on your visa remaining will be key to your hiring.Try always smaller contract or permanent roles to start with .Contracts should be easier option to make entry into long term permanent roles.Also do bear in mind that there is nothing like Internship or OJT or training schemes like in India you guys experience.Sheffield Hallam University program has enough exposure to Aerospace softwares and tools needed for you to do the job in Aerospace Industry without any difficulty further to your AeSI Degree.

MSc Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University Vs Other UK Universities

This is an email from bishnujee, it answers a frequent queery that i
get. So here you go.

Dear AeSI Engineers & Students,
I believe since many of you from AeSI must be slightly confused with
choice of UK Universities based on there reputation and past
record.There are some excellent Universities like Cranfield
University,Queen's Mary University ,University of Western
England,Bristol,Salford University,University of Sheffield.During last
few years based on Graduate hiring trend,I have noted that newer
University like Sheffield Hallam University which was few of British
Government owned University came into existence in 90s has been doing
pretty good on job after Course completion than some of the highly
rated University.There are some reasons behind it because when course
work was started as Approved Further Learning Programme (CEng) for BE
from AeSI & other Indian Universities ,it has full practical nature
and extensive Industry based coursework content instead of traditional
book work type of assignments & course work followed by traditional
Universities.Students in such
programme are quite mature at design,stress when they Graduate out
due to coursework nature.Each Student work individually as well as
part of team and develop on there own product & project,extensive
presentation skills and very high design and stress lab programme
groom them for career in Stress Engineer & Design Engineer.That is the
reason why MSc Engineers from SHU have captured jobs much ahead than
traditional reputed UK Universities who has still been sticking to
traditional coursework and studies.Please be advised that Cranfield
University newest MSc as Further learning programme might be falling
into same bracket .
Already SHU has 3 AeSI Engineers on its campus who have graduated out
with there MSc programme.

Which is the best study center for AeSI?

Recently in OURAeSi and in AeSI groups, this is the hot topic is regarding the best study center for AeSI! I think it will interesting to highlight some of the good points there, so here it is.

I am going to join Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering at Dehradun.There are two corses "Aeronautical Engineering" & "Aircraft Engineering" I want to know difference between this two.

Instead of joining at Dehradun, and getting your time and money wasted I would suggest "Ganesh Institute of Engineering, 71/6, Goods Shed Road, Adambakkam,Chennai- 88 (Tamil Nadu)"

The Courses you asked for :
Aeronautical Engineering : This is a graduate course (A.M.Ae.S.I. ), whose examining body is "The Aeronautical Society of India, 13B IP estate New Delhi"

Aircraft Maintainanace Engg : Its diploma course through which a candidate becomes a specialized maintainance engineer after passing the prescribed subjects and successfully gaining the stipulated period of experience at Airports/maintainan ce workshops

Hi,
Its really disappointing to note that so many AeSI Engineers who are based in India have been unable to come up with decent Study center with practical labs facility in one of location in India where maximum students can benefit from such venture.There is no point of running Institutions without proper lab facility like any Engineering Colleges.So far only HIET,Chennai has labs of some standard for new syllabus of AeSI.I am not sure about labs facility of other Colleges running AeSI programmes in India.

Don't go there. I studied there. The institute does not provide good knowledge.
Exam will be in Delhi. Better to go chennai. Ganesh institute of engineering, St. Thomas mount, Chennai. This is very cheap & best amount all other institute.

I studies AMAeSI in Indian insitute of Aeronautical engineering (IIAE), Dehradun & Ganesh institute of Engineer (GIE), Chennai. I found that student passed from IIAE paid very high amount of fees, does not get guidance & competition amount the group. You may be only single who pass section -A in IIAE. I saw 90% student who left AMAeSI without clearing any subject, Where as in GIE, I found that few of candidate have finish their degree (AMAeSI) in 2.5 years followed by 3 years to maximum four years. Very few about 10% candidate may left without even single subject.

I don't think you have made any mistake by joining there.Till you study honestly for your Aeronautical Engineering Degree ,you should be fine in your prospective career.No schools or colleges study,its the student who studies honestly and with utmost dedication shines in there future career.
Please remain focused in your studies,that is most important thing in your life.

Mr.Shraveen ,I am jannani doing my final year B.E Aeronautical in Hindustan Coimbatore.You need not regret for your decision. Don't care about others telling you about this course or your college.Among some of the colleges in TN your colleges is the best for Aeronautical Eng. So don't bother about people who says tat u r wrong.Wat u have to do now is don't expect ur coll or ur professors to feed u the syllabus.Instead ,be advanced,gather the materiales and start studying on your own. maintain at least 75% consistently.Be confirm in what branch u r interested (designing,maintenance,space,pilot training,air force) and work for tat right from now. If u want any help via this field you can contact me.I ll try my best to help u.Wish u good luck.

I personally recommend GIE as its the best in terms of studies and most of the past and present students of AeSI are from there only!!

Career After AeSI

AMAeSI results were just announced and as always there was a mail from Bishnujee for all the AeSI graduates. Very encouraging and useful mail for anyone regarding options that AeSI graduates have after AeSI.

Dear AeSI Graduates,

Congratulations to all new AeSI Graduates and I hope they keep up the good work in future. It always advisable for new Graduates whenever they graduate that they try not only newspaper openings but also try all avenues ,sometimes openings are remain unadvertised and if you are able to get in touch through mail or email,you should be able to get better opening than OJT through AeSI. Also don't blindly follow what your fellow Graduate or senior mate is doing in there career. Every case is individual basis and many not be viable for every individual.

Your main stress after AeSI should be to get first job with companies like Airbus,Bangalore, Quest, Infotech, Patni, Satyam, Wipro, TCS as starting point. Try getting into project which are in Aircraft manufacturing sector rather than Research sector unless you have mind set up to be in Research arena in your future career.

The reason why MTech/ME/MS is not advisable in India immediately is that there is no guarantee that you might be ending up in your first job in similar field. Its always advisable to work for 7-8 years after AeSI before venturing into ME/MTech/MSc coursework based on your field of work for those 7-8 years. You will gain professionally better that way.

There is also other side of it based on individual back ground or his ability to pull off scholarship from places like Royal Aeronautical Society,London or AIAA,USA,CASI,canada or family support from India for further studies like MSc/MS in UK/US/Canada/Australia to meet CEng Licensing Academic requirement which is minimum accredited MS/MSc from these countries only. Your experience after MSc is only considered for registration with EC-UK.Usually RAeS pays for full tuition & maintenance fees if you are successful with them in obtaining one of prestigious scholarships. But its on competitive based from applicants across the world since RAeS is present in all 5 continents of the world. There is no harm in trying such option as it gives you chance to succeed. Try first of all for Scholarship options and if that is not possible usual financial support from family or bank in India which is usual practice in 98% cases for Graduates from India.

Thanks for your mail. Aeronautical Engineering is Interdisciplinary branch where you go on to become specialist as Aerospace Designer/Analyst/Aircraft Maintenance/Aircraft Propulsion Engineer/Aerodynamics Analyst/Flight Navigator & Pilot First officer. These days many Mechanical Engineers/Electrical/Civil Engineer seek position in Aerospace sector due to huge number of Engineers passing out in other branches of Engineering where the competition after graduation is huge.

Aerospace Engineering in India has seen rapid growth in last few years and its much different from 90s when we graduated out ,then in the present day scenario. Lots of Giants in Aircraft Industry has set up there units in Bangalore and other cities leading to huge number of opportunities.

In India Quest,Infotech,Honeywell,Airbus Bangalore are key players and outside India there are numerous companies like Airbus UK,BAe Systems,Spirit Aerospace System,Boeing & NASA ,Lockheed Martin are key recruiters in this sector.Please do bear in mind Boeing,NASA,Lockheed martin employment restricted to US Citizens & Green card holders,though exceptional International Engineers are hired from time to time. Exceptional category is based on individual professional development after Graduation and not based on University reputation as there might be number of Graduates with same degree.

MBA degree only from reputed places like IIMs & Havarad,Kellog ,Wharton ,Cranfield should be opted for only after 3-5 years minimum experience as very few Management decent roles available for people with no experience.

Some of the best Institutes in India for Aerospace Engineering are Aeronautical Society of India, IIT Kharagpur,IIT Kanpur,IIT Mumbai,IIT Madras,IISc,JNTU,Punjab Engineering College. Please do bear in mind that Aeronautical Society of India's Associate Membership Examination has been Accrediated as British Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering which is highest Bachelor Degree standard in Engineering. I am not sure about the status of other Bachelor programmes in Engineering in India. Outside India there are numerous Universities like Cranfield College of Aeronautics, University of Bath, Sheffield Hallam University, Imperial College and many more in UK & ERAU,MIT,CALTech in USA. The list is long one.
