AeSI June 2014 result-out

Dear Friends,

First I would like to congratulate to everyone who had completed degree or passed paper and in case you had not passed exam as per your expectation than please don't get disappointed because a better future as well as a better result is waiting for you but for the time being get relaxed ,analyse what went wrong, what you can go to avoid it.

Once you clear AeSI you will feel that the you have won a very big battle of your life and I must say as you had not left AeSI and you were determinate through your journey of AeSI and strived ,challenged ,pushed your limits so in future you will never ever give up in any condition .I must say that AeSI gives the training at-least it did for me.

Joy of clearing one paper was more than clearing GATE for me and I am sure that completing M.Tech from IIT kharagpur will not give me as pleasure I had got when I completed AeSI.

Once again Congrats to all and also let me know about your result in comment section.

Thanks for reading ,

Please do like and share if you felt it's worth reading,

Natarajan sir’s mind boggling answer…

A question asked by student to Natrajan sir after GATE class..
a room is full of oxygen and if i increase the temp of the room ,will oxygen get burned….?
we all know how Natrajan sir makes our doubt clear by giving simple simple example .he explains with such a example that we can not forget for a long time.
bellow is his answer..
see I m a teacher ,i can not teach my self .i need students to teach similarly oxygen is oxidizer it can not be burnt by itself ,it needs fuel to get burnt.
Have similiar experience with Natarajan sir...?
Please do share with us in comment section.

How to prepare for M.S. interview…?

Firstly I would like to congratulate to everyone who had received interview call letter for M.S.(By research ) from IIT Madras…..As you had already received call letter for interview that means 50 % of selection is in your favour ,now to make 50 to 100 % you have to prepare nicely for the interview.

Unless in the case of M.Tech. Where admission solely depends upon your GATE rank rather than your interview , M.S. is the case where interview matters the most .So here it goes,

Tip 1: 1st make up your mind , In which specialization you want to work weather its structure, fluid, propulsion.

Tip 2 : Go through all the basics of the specialization .for example : if you wish to do MS from thermal than you must be well in 1st law,S.F.E.E.(steady flow energy equation) and its application,2nd law,3rd law, what is Cp,what is Cv,unit of Cp.This simple simple thing matters the most…..all they want to know is your basics is right or not ……for fluid : study continuity equation, momentum equation ,energy equation, bernoulli's equation ,fluid statics ,kinematics and dynamics .again MAKE YOUR BASICS CLEAR.

Tip 3 : If you don't know anything which they had asked ,tell them frankly that you don't know or you had studied but you are not getting it right now…..DON'T TRY TO MAKE THEM FOOL BY GIVING RANDOM ANSWER by this way you are just decreasing your chances of selection .

Tip 4 : Don't feel nervous for the interview .they all will make you friendly by asking some personal questions .

Tip 5 : In case you get stuck ,while you are giving answer they may help you by suggesting some things so keep your ears open and listen to each and every word they are saying attentively .you can also ask for their help ….

Hope it had helped you to get some insights of the interview.
If you had another question than feel free to ask me…

Thanks,

Modi Pritesh

Experience matters ... !!

A question asked by student to Natrajan sir after GATE class..

A room is full of oxygen and if i increase the temp of the room ,will oxygen get burned….?

We all know how Natrajan sir clears doubt clear by giving simple simple example. He explains with such a example that we can not forget for a long time.

Bellow is his answer..

I'm a teacher and I can not teach my self . I need students to teach. Similarly oxygen is oxidizer, it can not be burnt by itself, it needs fuel to get burn.

Natarajan sir is a very well known faculty of Anna university. He is also visiting faculty of GIE.

Why should I learn programming language 'C' ?

A : Hey, What are you doing in Bangalore ?
B : I’m working as a Software Engineer.
A :  Is it so ?
B :  Yes, I’m working in ABC Group.
A :  But, You’ve only learned basics of embedded. Isn’t it?
B : Yes, I’ve worked on AVR platform and on Atmel’s Atmega 16 micro controller.
A : Have you made any project as well ?
B : Yes, I’ve made projects like line following robot, traffic light and to display various patterns on LCD.
A : Don’t make me fool, You’ve made a project of traffic lights so How can you work on any aircraft related project? How will you relate traffic lights and aircraft?
B : Wait, Let me explain !
A : Sure, & also explain me that why should I learn programming language ‘C’ ?

Here are the answers/explanation of the questions asked by A.

1. Have you observed a green and red color light at the tip of the wing and which keeps on blinking?
2. Have you observed the green and red color light on the belly of helicopter?
3. Have you noticed that once pilot achieves decision height so landing light automatically turns on?

Let me tell you that these lights are used as an indication and warning light and play a vital role in  landing at zero visibility. They also help in decision making like it helps a pilot to understand the direction of another aircraft. Click on the below mentioned links to understand the importance of such external lights. Approximately 99% of such lights are controlled using an embedded system.
Basics will always remain the basics irrespective of the fact that whether we are working on a F1 car or a F16 fighter aircraft. Have a look on major electronic device like a calculator,  microwave, washing machines, digital camera, display unit on AC buses, ATM machines and so on… They all are getting smarter day by day. This smartness comes from a microprocessor, an operating system and a program embedded in these devices. You’ll be surprised to know that these programs are written in programming language ‘C’.

Even though now a days we have automated tools to do programming and to help programmers to make an error free & high quality program so that it can be certified at the most rigorous levels yet if you don’t know the basics of programming so you can’t work on automatic tools as well. Developers of sophisticated applications such as those utilized in avionics, high-speed trains, nuclear reactors, automobiles and medical devices use such automated tools for automatic software development and to pinpoint programming errors.
Take any example starting from the automation of aircraft gate to critical navigation & auto pilot system. Everywhere we are using embedded system and thus it’s very necessary for an Avionics student to be familiar with programming concepts.

An open advice to all avionics students.
- Learn C, C++, Matlab
- Work on at least one embedded platform if not ARM or PIC so at least AVR.

Don't waste your time! Move on...

An interesting post is brewing at the ouraesi group.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ouraesi/

I want to repost it here for all your comments and discussion.

The points are practical distillations of the person who posted them, but I don't completely agree with him.

Career path is never a straight line. Even for an IIT graduate it's always zigzag. And no two person have the same trajectories in career. So I will take advice, although practical with a pinch of salt.

Your comments as always are welcome.

So here we go...

Hi friends,

My humble request to u all

If you are just now started AeSI, Better to move to something else If you are halfway in AeSI, try to finish as soon as possible.

Try to get more than 60%,other regular Engg guys ( Below Avg) will come with 70 to 80 % marks.

Very few company will be ready to take AesI Guys.but not good salary, no increment.. (ex: Infot.. h)

AesI wont help you for your life if you have taken more years or Not able to finish quickly or dont have min 60% Look for some other plan for life.

The Best thing is finish try to get into HAL,NAL,ISRO as a scientist
(Full of politics,Nonsense. but this is one of the best option) then move to co like HoneyWell
Gate -> IIT-> Look for some oppertunity by hiding AesI with the help of MTech Ex Honey well or fly somewhere else

In any job you get better hike, when you jump from one company to other.
But with AeSI you can not jump easily,so your growth is very much limited.

Please think about it and dont recommend AeSI even for your enemies

Any help related to CATIA and Automation in CATIA V5 feel free to mail me..

Even after 6yrs exp and 1.5+ onsite AIRBUS France & Germany My Pain continues

Thanks & Regards

Data Available !

After a month struggle and by the help of various job portals, social networking domains and LinkedIn, I've created a data base of 100 HRs of Aviation Industry.
I personally feel that It's very useful for one who is going to complete Section-B this time or already cleared and hunting for job, this data may open the gates of new opportunities.

You need to follow few steps to get access of this data.
- Shoot an email at himalya.india@gmail.com
- Share your registration number
- Share your stream

Why am I expecting these details from you ?
- Data includes some higher level profiles including the General Managers - HR and Sr. Recruitment Officer etc...
- I feel that if irrelevant emails will be sent so It'll close the gate of fellow students and as well as It'll decrease the brand value of Aeronautical Society of India.

Good Luck in advance !

Gate Preparation _ Section-A !

Greetings of the day !

The title of the post sounds strange. Isn't it ?
Agree ! Actually I was chatting with a student of Section-A who has cleared 3 papers and he was asking me about where to do gate preparation and he was damn excited about it.
Let's take an example first :
Why do you need a bachelors degree to enroll in masters ? because to be a master in mathematics, you must have the basic knowledge of mathematics and it is represented by a bachelors degree if you are going to enroll yourself for masters in mathematics.

What to do in Section-A in terms of Gate Preparation ?
  • Identify your real potential because the honest measure of success is what you are doing compared to your true potential.
  • Clearing Gate is very easy if you have a clear picture of the basics. History advocates that even after completing the degree, one prepares again for subjects like Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Engineering Mathematics etc. : Hence my request to you is rather than just learning the concepts blindly, focus on achieving excellence in basics, It'll  not only help you in examination hall but will also help you  a lot while doing Gate Preparation
  • I always say one thing that your friend circle represents your identity and the marks you score in any exam. Try to have a good friend circle. Take a topic and have a quiz among your circle followed with a debate. By doing so nobody can stop you to meet achievements.
  • While you'are in Section-A, don't go anywhere for Gate Preparation (It's my personal opinion.), Clear your basics of every subject and try to score maximum because my strategy says that very soon the fashion of 60% is going to be outdated. It'll be at least a minimum of 65% because in other universities, students are even getting a cgpa of 9.5 (It's a fact !)
What not to do during academics ?
  • Don't have friends which create negative environment and which further lead to failure.
  • So many people will say to you that Jobs are not there and to leave aesi or to take lateral admission in any other university because Aesi is very difficult and so many things : just say to them "Winners don't quit & Quitters don't win." and if jobs are not there so "Where the hell are seniors working ?"

Why AESI is not up to the mark for me? - an aesi students view

After my recent post on update from aesiaa, I received this email from an aesi student. And I am posting his email here for giving it a wider audience.

I am changing the name for obvious reasons. But the points raised by him are genuine and worth to ponder.

I have sent a brief reply to this email to him, will post the same here, latter this week.

Now over to the student of aesi......

hello sir,

I am tony, AVIONICS stream , cleared 16 papers so far(65.2%). I don't know what to say and what to expect from this email but still you asked me to shoot you a mail, so i'm writing this. When you wrote the last blog , then i got a little carried away
and wrote things that shouldn't be said or atleast the way i put it .

I'm sorry for that, but truely sir what i wrote was straight from the heart and if you think from our student side, then it won't be that wrong if you see.

What AESIAA is doing or trying to do, is very impressive and yes every one has a life and sorry for putting it that
way. What i want is that someone could carry my words to AESI, as i
can't do it myself as long as i haven't completed it, thats it, what i meant when i wrote it . I thing AESI doesnt deserve that kind of pride 'cause of the negligence it shows to students like us,and the lady who picks up the phone she is over smart, i think, don't even know the proper rules,

Why AESI is not up to the mark for me?

1) Absolutely no motivation from their side, u don't get credit on merit , nor deserving students are offered any job after completion, so when there is no motivation how one is supposed to study,

2) very elusive policies and rules, the rules regarding training and projects in sec-b are not clearly mentioned in any written notice, u have to call AESI to seek information and that stupid lady hungs up without even listening to your queries,

3) Syllabus not upto the mark what industry seeks from avionics,
students, nor it is suitable for GATE, we have to study a hell lot extra to cover it up, its not so in case of aero-mechanical though,

4)Wont give authority to any college , like IGNOU so they can train us
the way they want and practical can be included.

5) i don't understand every organisation wants to see its growth , but why not AESI ? its going the other way round, its being decades since
the foundation of AESI, progress is nil not slow,

6) The curriculum does n't encourages quality students, most of the students who are present in AESI are simply 'cause they didn't get
chance in good colleges not like me who want to study aeronautics ,,

7) there is a huge void between passing of 20 papers and getting a job
'cause :-
a) No one knows AESI that well
b) % marks are not good of majority of students
c) no practical knowledge only theoretical, so that effects confidence of the student itself
d) to gain practical knowledge u have to get training from organisations which are mostly unpaid and u have to pay them instead, so that kills time, money ,patience and aesi is not be bothered about it

8) "u are 21 \22 yr u are an engineer and working for a good company "
chances for either of this case or both to occur is tending to 0% i believe

Sir , i have spit it out, i don't know how will you take it but i certainly can't feel proud of an organization which
lacks this qualities, i'm very sorry sir, my apology again.

-Tony

Qualification Vs Knowledge !!

Friends, We had a useful discussion on a page "The Aeronautical Society of India" at facebook. I want to share it with you. I believe that you will find it useful.

  • Sarvoday Singh - Knowledge
  • Ranjan Raj Soren qualification based on knowledge......:)
  • Aditya Agrawal qualification bcoz wiuthout qualification knowledge is useless. . . .
  • Himalya Bansal Knowledge
coz qualification without knowledge is like red rose without fragnance.
  • Isha Goyal knowledge..(dre r some ppl in d world whu dnt hv qualification bt dey r mch more intelligent nly by dre knowledge)..
  • Vineet Nair I would like to share my experience....I have seen dumb ppl at Bigger positions just because they had Qualification (which was ofcourse acquired by muscle/money power since they had no knowledge) and I have seen more knowledgable ppl working under them or in some BPO .....PPL from AeSI very well know hw they end up at BPO......
  • Himalya Bansal Even though my opinion says KNOWLEDGE however let me take qualification side and start a discussion....so that we can have a final outcome.....
@Qualification : final objective of all is to get a job... tell me one thing if you don't meet job criteria so what is the basis of having knowledge... even to appear any interview you need to have certain qualification.....
  • Hemant Prabhakar qualification with reference:-)
  • Jyotindra Thakur knowledge...
  • Sandeep Yadav Of cource knwledge...bt without qulifictn no value of knwledge.....
  • Himalya Bansal ‎@Isha Goyal .... agree but don't you think that qualification increases your global exposure ...
  • Vineet Nair ‎Himalya Bansal at least in India I would say you can buy Qualification but not Knowledge..... ;-)
  • देवदत्त शर्मा knowledge ppl knowledge
  • Hemant Prabhakar Criteria is qualification to explore ur knowledge
  • Anand Mathew KNOWLEDGE is POWER.... So qualification will follows us
  • Vineet Nair ‎Hemant Prabhakar who would u respect more?? Person with Knowledge or Qualification???
  • Vishal Nawalgaria knowledge for sure...& thts what aesi gives us.... but does it help earn a living?
  • Himalya Bansal ‎@all .... I think that choosing qualification was a mistake ... coz everyone expect few are taking knowledge side......
by d way friends, why do everyone of us think about working somewhere.... can we have a dream of creating employment ? rather then just following the path created by our seniors ......
I think we should be innovative & creative ... and try to create new possibilities ...
  • Mahendra Pandey qualification..
  • Sachin Kumar In aesi qualification. But if u dnt hv knowlegde u r nt able to qualify propulsion1 n prop 2.
  • Himalya Bansal ‎Sachin Kumar don't worry Prof. Natrajan from @GIE, Chennai has sent a letter followed with the support of more then 100 students to AEronautical Society of India regarding the same .....
    &
don't you feel that aesi mei aane ke baad bande ki knowledge badh jaati hei .... I really feel like this.... I have improved my skills a lot after joining aesi .....
  • Himalya Bansal ‎@anand mathew .... I agree but try to have a look on the opposite of the coin as well.... They are good in practicals ... Are we ?
Do we really know anything about aircraft ? now plz dn't say that I know flaps, spoilers and ol... I'm talking about practical aspects ....
  • Sachin Kumar I think student who is in final stage of degree cmplitn in society, have both qualifictn as well as knowlege.
  • Himalya Bansal by d help of knowledge we can't only earn money , we can create new possibilities as well....
  • Sachin Kumar New po$sibilits can never b created on the bases of qualificathttp://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=9184576n only. Thats y qualification is analogus of knowledge
  • Shrestha Mittra i guess its da knowledge of da people wat z needed in work dhre if qualification ws everythng den newton wouldnt hav been a scientist instead could hav been worthless fellow..its da brain of da person wch matters n nt da qualification..:))
  • Sree Jith Ofcourse knowledge is important but this alone won't take you where u want to be or rather what u always wanted to become, in present conditions people do ask for qualification, even though if we have prefect knowledge but not the required qualification they won't consider US fit for the job.In most of the cases this happens
  • Aditi Handique Based on present scenario n if we see through a practical approach qualification matters more.
  • Narendra Singh Maurya qualificatn z like a gate entry pass in compny but knwlge z a pwr ful skil.
  • Rajat Shrivastava knowledge without qualification is of on use, and qualification without knowledge is useless.
so we need both of them.
  • Vishnu J Nair qualification and knowledge, both has its on power. without knowledge their is no value for the qualification
  • Harish Sudhakaran after all..it"s.. common sense...that matters....which is not so common...!!!
  • Patitapaban Sahoo der r some great xample in India, who dont hv qualification but knowledge.......like KABIR DAS.......ND ofcourse qualification comes aftr knowledge......
Friends, these are few comments on a post @ "The Aeronautical Society of India" page at facebook.

Do share your views that what is more important knowledge or qualification ?

Effort is the only barrier, not ability.

I am in the industry for 7 odd years now. And if I have one thing to tell any aesi student or graduate, then this is it.

Effort is the only barrier there is. We mistakely use ability as an excuse.

Put in the effort, give your dues. That's the only thing that stands between you and your success. Ability is just crystalization of efforts.

Keep putting the effort. If you aren't seeing the results, look deep at your efforts.

Are you putting effort on the correct activities? Do you need to increase the effort?

So as you begin preparing for gate 2011, for aesi exams and for the job interviews always remember effort is the only barrier.

As always, your comments are always welcome.

Best career path to follow after AeSI

A few days back Aditya posted this query in ouraesi yahoo group.

"

Hello Sir,

Firstly, Thank you very much for replying. So if I wanted to apply for unpaid training I will have to meet the scientist working in the organisation for the concerned field of interest, personally?

Can you suggest me the best career path to follow after AeSI ? I came to know that it will be best to first work in the organisations like NAL, GTRE, ADE etc. as a trainee engineer and then pursue M. Tech. or find a job. Is this right?

"

I wanted to reply to him but before I could some time to do do, Mr. Shashank Sharma, an AeSI alumni, gave a elaborate and useful reply.

So I thought of reporting his reply her so that it could be useful to the readers of this blog and doesn't get lost in the group emails.

Thanks a lot to Mr. Shashank!

"

Aditya,

I have tried preparing a 'priortized' list for the subject matter.
Based on individual's launch-conditions, the term 'best career path' can be any 1 or many out of the following:
1. Clearing gate and pursuing ME/MTech in Indian universities and finding job via campus, provided you have time, funding and brains.

2. Clearing GRE/TOEFL/IELTS etc. to pursue ME/MS in overseas universities (requirement remains same as in 1.)

3. Clearing DRDO-SET/CSIR for NAL/ADA/any such compatible exam to become Scientist-B.

4. Apply for Junior Research Fellowship-GATE i.e. JRF-GATE in NAL, Bangalore which leads to induction of candidate as research fellow. 2 years of contractual service sponsorship and eligibility for applying ME/MS (under NAL sponsorship). This even leads to sponsorship for PhD (60% in degree and a valid gate score, check NAL website for further details).

5. JR Fellowship with ADA, Bangalore

6. Pursuing training (paid/unpaid) leading to accumulation of strong analytical engineering experience strengthens ones candidature for private companies.
Experts can add further to this list.

Regards

Shashank Sharma

Gifts are easy, choices can be hard!!

Following is the commencement address given by Jeff Bezos founder,
president, and CEO of Amazon.com, as delivered to the Class of 2010 of
Princeton University!!

Really inspiring. This one is for all the AeSI students who will
graduate this year !

So grab a cup of coffee, read and be inspired.

As a kid, I spent my summers with my grandparents on their ranch in
Texas. I helped fix windmills, vaccinate cattle, and do other chores.
We also watched soap operas every afternoon, especially "Days of our
Lives." My grandparents belonged to a Caravan Club, a group of
Airstream trailer owners who travel together around the U.S. and
Canada. And every few summers, we'd join the caravan. We'd hitch up
the Airstream trailer to my grandfather's car, and off we'd go, in a
line with 300 other Airstream adventurers. I loved and worshipped my
grandparents and I really looked forward to these trips. On one
particular trip, I was about 10 years old. I was rolling around in the
big bench seat in the back of the car. My grandfather was driving. And
my grandmother had the passenger seat. She smoked throughout these
trips, and I hated the smell.

At that age, I'd take any excuse to make estimates and do minor
arithmetic. I'd calculate our gas mileage -- figure out useless
statistics on things like grocery spending. I'd been hearing an ad
campaign about smoking. I can't remember the details, but basically
the ad said, every puff of a cigarette takes some number of minutes
off of your life: I think it might have been two minutes per puff. At
any rate, I decided to do the math for my grandmother. I estimated the
number of cigarettes per days, estimated the number of puffs per
cigarette and so on. When I was satisfied that I'd come up with a
reasonable number, I poked my head into the front of the car, tapped
my grandmother on the shoulder, and proudly proclaimed, "At two
minutes per puff, you've taken nine years off your life!"

I have a vivid memory of what happened, and it was not what I
expected. I expected to be applauded for my cleverness and arithmetic
skills. "Jeff, you're so smart. You had to have made some tricky
estimates, figure out the number of minutes in a year and do some
division." That's not what happened. Instead, my grandmother burst
into tears. I sat in the backseat and did not know what to do. While
my grandmother sat crying, my grandfather, who had been driving in
silence, pulled over onto the shoulder of the highway. He got out of
the car and came around and opened my door and waited for me to
follow. Was I in trouble? My grandfather was a highly intelligent,
quiet man. He had never said a harsh word to me, and maybe this was to
be the first time? Or maybe he would ask that I get back in the car
and apologize to my grandmother. I had no experience in this realm
with my grandparents and no way to gauge what the consequences might
be. We stopped beside the trailer. My grandfather looked at me, and
after a bit of silence, he gently and calmly said, "Jeff, one day
you'll understand that it's harder to be kind than clever."

What I want to talk to you about today is the difference between gifts
and choices. Cleverness is a gift, kindness is a choice. Gifts are
easy -- they're given after all. Choices can be hard. You can seduce
yourself with your gifts if you're not careful, and if you do, it'll
probably be to the detriment of your choices.

This is a group with many gifts. I'm sure one of your gifts is the
gift of a smart and capable brain. I'm confident that's the case
because admission is competitive and if there weren't some signs that
you're clever, the dean of admission wouldn't have let you in.

Your smarts will come in handy because you will travel in a land of
marvels. We humans -- plodding as we are -- will astonish ourselves.
We'll invent ways to generate clean energy and a lot of it. Atom by
atom, we'll assemble tiny machines that will enter cell walls and make
repairs. This month comes the extraordinary but also inevitable news
that we've synthesized life. In the coming years, we'll not only
synthesize it, but we'll engineer it to specifications. I believe
you'll even see us understand the human brain. Jules Verne, Mark
Twain, Galileo, Newton -- all the curious from the ages would have
wanted to be alive most of all right now. As a civilization, we will
have so many gifts, just as you as individuals have so many individual
gifts as you sit before me.

How will you use these gifts? And will you take pride in your gifts or
pride in your choices?

I got the idea to start Amazon 16 years ago. I came across the fact
that Web usage was growing at 2,300 percent per year. I'd never seen
or heard of anything that grew that fast, and the idea of building an
online bookstore with millions of titles -- something that simply
couldn't exist in the physical world -- was very exciting to me. I had
just turned 30 years old, and I'd been married for a year. I told my
wife MacKenzie that I wanted to quit my job and go do this crazy thing
that probably wouldn't work since most startups don't, and I wasn't
sure what would happen after that. MacKenzie (also a Princeton grad
and sitting here in the second row) told me I should go for it. As a
young boy, I'd been a garage inventor. I'd invented an automatic gate
closer out of cement-filled tires, a solar cooker that didn't work
very well out of an umbrella and tinfoil, baking-pan alarms to entrap
my siblings. I'd always wanted to be an inventor, and she wanted me to
follow my passion.

I was working at a financial firm in New York City with a bunch of
very smart people, and I had a brilliant boss that I much admired. I
went to my boss and told him I wanted to start a company selling books
on the Internet. He took me on a long walk in Central Park, listened
carefully to me, and finally said, "That sounds like a really good
idea, but it would be an even better idea for someone who didn't
already have a good job." That logic made some sense to me, and he
convinced me to think about it for 48 hours before making a final
decision. Seen in that light, it really was a difficult choice, but
ultimately, I decided I had to give it a shot. I didn't think I'd
regret trying and failing. And I suspected I would always be haunted
by a decision to not try at all. After much consideration, I took the
less safe path to follow my passion, and I'm proud of that choice.

Tomorrow, in a very real sense, your life -- the life you author from
scratch on your own -- begins.

How will you use your gifts? What choices will you make?

Will inertia be your guide, or will you follow your passions?

Will you follow dogma, or will you be original?

Will you choose a life of ease, or a life of service and adventure?

Will you wilt under criticism, or will you follow your convictions?

Will you bluff it out when you're wrong, or will you apologize?

Will you guard your heart against rejection, or will you act when you
fall in love?

Will you play it safe, or will you be a little bit swashbuckling?

When it's tough, will you give up, or will you be relentless?

Will you be a cynic, or will you be a builder?

Will you be clever at the expense of others, or will you be kind?

I will hazard a prediction. When you are 80 years old, and in a quiet
moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal
version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and
meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we

From ouraesi-on job training in IIT after AeSI

Many times in this blog I post links or posts that originate in the
ouraesi group. This post is one of that!

Nishant asked about OJT in IIT and here's the very useful response
from mr
Kamanasish Biswas!

Hi Nishant,
As far as i know for getting OJT (Through AeSI) u have to secure at
least 60% in Sec-B. only IIT kanpur provides OJT (Among all
IITs).Apart from on job training (OJT) u can try for Project assistant
or JRF position at various IIT. For that u can browse through the
website www.Freshersworld.com. then u can prepare for GATE Exam or u
can try for MS programme at iit.

With Best Wishes
Kamanasish Biswas

This interaction is what makes ouraesi a great place to be. Hope you
are a member of this group!!

This month ouraesi group will celebrate a mojor landmark!! Will tell
you soon about it.

How to accelerate your GATE preparation?

Gate 2010 exams are nearing and by now you want to accelerate your
gate 2010 preparation. You want to push through the syllabus and get
more out of your study time.

Then here's a simple but effective technique to accelerate the pace of
your learning.

For this to work. You are required to have read the topics at least
once. You need to know what is where and what is what of the gate
syllabus.

The technique is to "take open book test" once you have covered some
topics or part of the syllabus!!

Simple but works everytime.

Gather 4 textbooks or question papers of your chosen subjects and
randomly take a open book test.

Atempt the questions without seeing the book. If stuck, try hard to
remember the answer and if no success then only see the book. Ater
seeing write down the answer without peeping at the answer again!!

Do it enough time and you will see how much you can cover in shot span
of time. Do it with all the topics, do it several times and you will
see how testing yourself, this way, increases your learning capacity.

Why it works I don't know! But it works. I have used this countless
times in my studies in AeSI!

And while selecting questions randomly, don't read the question you
are selecting. Just think of some random numbers and answer questions
against those numbers.

Hope you will at least give this simple exercise a go. Go test for
yourself.

And best of luck !!

How to prepare for aeronautical engineering GATE exam?

Read indtroduction to flights by John d Anderson. That's the short
and simple answer!

Will it be enough? By all means, no!!!!! But that book is a good
starting point and can help you in recall, comprehension and
application type of questions of gate.

Apart from this book recomendation, I would say the best way to study
for gate aerospace is study individual topics from the syllabus from
different standard books and pose short quiz questions on all the
things that you read. Use back questions? Section and topics to pose
mini questions. Answer them and onces you are confident in the topic
move ahead.

The main point I want to make is don't do straight question answer
study, read the topics that are in the syllabus, understand them, pose
questions from those understanding and then move to quiz questions.

Solving 10 thousand questions won't help unless you understand the
basics and going from basics is much more easier and time saving and
effecient way to study for any exam.

What does it take to do mtech in IIT Mumbai after AeSI

As Mr. Sandeep Patil informs us, there's a way to get in IIT Mumbai
after AeSI.

Aesi degre, one year experience and a valid gate score, if you have
these three you have a good chance of being accepted to do mtech in
IIT Mumbai!!

Recently IIT Kanpur also accepted an AeSI graduate who topped GATE!!!

Lull in posting

Why there is a sudden lull in the post? If you are wondering about
this then be assure the posts are ready. The problem is with delivery
mechanism.

The Internet at my end is acting up so posts have hard time escaping.
Hope this issue will be resolved by tonight.

Another reason for slowing down is that I am concentrating my time on
finishing the ebook. Formating and beutification took lot of time.
It's still at the gate but will surely come out by next week.

Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family - revisited

Back in July 2007, exactly 2 years back I posted this poll "Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family." and the poll is still going on.

As I revisited it I saw that No is still wining. And I found many interesting comparison that people made about AMAeSI. Chief among them were.

AMAeSI course is like AIDS. and Doing AeSI is like walking in a dark alley with a moving target.

Here are some of the reaction that it has generated for that particular question. Please add your comments at the end of it and tell us what will you say if someone ask you,  "Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family."

SREERAJ said on Jun 11 2009, 02:04 AM:
I DON'T THINK THAT AMAeSI IS A BAD COURSE. MAY BE IT WILL BE A TOUGH COURSE. I RECOMMEND STUDENTS TO STUDY AME FIRST THEN GO FOR THIS COURSE WHY BCOZ IF U FEEL TOUGH IN IT,YOU CAN WORK AS AN AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER.

Indranath said on Jun 04 2009, 09:32 AM:
hi 4rnds I want to study AMAeSI from Bengal inst of Technocrats, kolkata. please tell me that what are the subject I have to take in my 1st semester. there is no practical facility in the mentioned college.

RIYAS said on May 24 2009, 11:53 PM:
Hard work n commitment are essential in our life. Going ahead with AeSI for such people doesn’t create any problem, so I recommend only 2 do AeSI.

Shruthi said on Feb 10 2009, 07:24 AM:
AMAeSI is definitely hard but not impossible like how some other people here are saying! I am currently doing my 4th semester and I have passed 8 subjects of Section A. True u have to work much harder than normal BE or B.Tech students but the knowledge you gain is far more than the others students, that’s why the first 20 ranks in the GATE examinations are usually taken up by AMAeSI students! Hard work and determination. As for Job prospects? The sky is the limit. I recommend if your ready to study hard.

SUDHAKAR DARSI said on Dec 26 2008, 07:22 AM:
I TAKEN ADMISSION IN AMAESI INTHE YEAR 2004 I DIDNOT PASSED EACH SUBJECT I STUDIED SO MANY DAY AND NIGHTS MY LIFE WAS SPOILED WE ARE BELONGS TO VERY POOR FAMILY BUT MY MOM WAS SPENDED MONEY TO MY STUDIES MY SUGGESTION IS DONT JOIN IN THIS COURSE IT WAS VERY HARD

KISHORE said on Nov 15 2008, 09:40 AM:
THIS IS THE COURSE WHERE U WILL SEE WHAT A HELL IS. THERE IS NO GAIN FOR THE PAIN. EVEN U WORK FOR DAY AND N8T THERE WILL BE FRUSTRATING BACKLOGS. I BEING AN AESI STUDENT I AM ADVICING YOU NOT TO JOIN THE COURSE. BEWARE OF AESI.

e.ramesh said on Sep 10 2008, 04:45 AM:
Many private engg colleges collecting huge fee, no infrastructure, lack of qualified and experienced faculty even no books in libraries, so this is an alternative and economy for middle class people, do this and achieve your goal through this way, many people benefitted by this way

ramesh said on Aug 08 2008, 05:51 AM:
plz give me details of aeronautical engg. is JNTU,HYDERABAD IS GOOD .WHATS THE AVERAGE SALARY THEY ?DRAW?,,,,,,,,,,,,

Nutan Dev said on Jul 18 2008, 07:30 AM:
I support 4 the peoples' opinion for not recommending AMAeSI, but can anyone tell me then going 4 regular BE in Aeronautics and colleges appropriate for this course. It would be a great favor if anybody does it

trushit said on Jul 01 2008, 11:13 AM:
U MAY DO IT PROVIDED U R READY 2 WORK HARD AND HARD

Aewa said on May 15 2008, 08:52 AM:
If you study this course you will get a thorough knowledge in the field of Aeronautics

rameez said on May 15 2008, 03:20 AM:
I sacrificed my two years just realizing what this course is all about u just lurk in darkness without having anyone to guide, like just shooting in darkness blindfolded

sourav said on Apr 14 2008, 10:54 AM:
I am just frustrated with this course in my 1st year itself. it seems that I have come to hell. a student can't enjoy real college life.

shashank said on Apr 11 2008, 02:56 AM:
Going for AeSI is like going for target who u can see before moving but once u follow that u will lose most important years I can’t tell how many because only few are the ones who achieve that and the one who achieves is on the seventh heaven so try for btech through competitions like IIT , aieee ,uptu etc. best of luck

Jagdish said on Mar 21 2008, 11:27 AM:
well, I have completed diploma in electronics and telecommunication engineering from IETE-Delhi its also a distance learning course like AMAeSI, now let know something about AMAeSI 1. Its is an govt. recognized course but not AICTE approved or UGC 2. Its very very difficult course, and there are few persons who know about this course 3. Its is easy to says 4 yrs degree course but only few body can pass AeSI within 4yrs. 4. this course is for who they doing service like in air force, navy, or other private companies, if you have lower score in 12th or diploma then try to prepare for JEE, AIEEE, and join IIT, MIT, anna university, UP technical collage, punjab university or other top university in India, or you can study abroad for aeronautical or aerospace engg. but keep in mind that try to avoid AeSI for making your future.

Nirmala said on Mar 18 2008, 07:31 AM:
I am confused. Are we talking about aircraft maintenance course or AME as popularly known? Is AME good to pursue? Pl. advise.

rajesh said on Feb 19 2008, 09:32 AM:
It is the worst course because of this course so many students waste their valuable time & money. don't believe this course it is just like AIDS this course will spoil your career & my suggestion is to continue the regular course. please don't believe this course. because I am one who is suffering by this course from 1ST semester. after joining this course I have realized that this course is having no value at any cost

Debabrata Bhowmick. said on Jul 18 2007, 08:05 AM:
I just cant recommend other for this..as we know its too tough to clear all the papers within 4yrs..even we r not satisfied with our paper checking, question pattern, so AICTE approval degree is better. at least they can complete their degree within 4yrs. so just forget about AESI.

ramzaan said on Jul 11 2007, 12:53 AM:
I kindly suggest to any one don’t come to this course for aero engg u go to IIT’s or isro started new college ....... do your best in 12th n try to crack iit jee or aieee........ otherwise go though any regular course its cheapest course but u have to face lot of problems n have to spend min one yr more to join t our job so if u have that DUM then only dare to do it!!!!!!!!!!

sunil wani said on Jul 10 2007, 07:44 AM:
AMAeSI qualification is very good better than any other college and univercity courses.

kamanasish biswas said on Jul 08 2007, 09:50 AM:
no I'll never recommend this course to any body. the time usually, its take to complete the course is horrible. then comes the % of marks. its always better to go for regular engg. college at least then one will be eligible for everything.

Suprabh said on Jul 07 2007, 07:41 AM:
No I will never recommend it to anyone A regular BE has more recognition and opportunities than us. We also don't have vivas and assignments.

dhanya said on Jul 07 2007, 07:41 AM:
In this fast changing world demanding very skilled & experienced workers i doubt about the job opportunities for this course.

mohsin said on Jul 07 2007, 02:49 AM:
Though we are struggling like anything but only few people know about this course. there are no campuses nothing.... most of us either go for PG or non pay training....my vote is NO...

jagan said on Jul 06 2007, 07:16 AM:
hi friends most of the members say that AeSI is the future. But in order to sustain in the field of aero we need the degree. Nowadays getting AeSI degree within time is being dream, more we are being exposed present student trend in colleges. so, I will vote for no, any how the standard of AeSI has no competition in India.

basant said on Jul 06 2007, 02:39 AM:
I do not think I would ever do that! its better to pay a sum of money and get a degree in aeronautics from a private engg college rather than slug it out in the dark alleys of AeSI. After all that we have suffered I strongly recommend that do not join AeSI. Being in AeSI u seem to miss the charm of doing regular B.E Degree. It takes time to get the required respect in ur work place too.

Jacob said on Jul 06 2007, 12:51 AM:
I will not recommend AeSI to anyone. A regular BE has more recognition and opportunities than us. As Mr. Kishore has correctly pointed out, this is the real world. The effort required to complete this course is not worth it. The brilliance required to complete this course could be utilized where one can get some good results. Though you gain something but you stand to loose lot more than you gain.

Roop kishore said on Jul 06 2007, 12:12 AM:
No I will never recommend it to anyone, I’m not saying that this course is bad but the whole process of this course is nothing but a torture, and these r not my words this is from someone who holds a responsible position in society itself. well in my words, the society authorities r just for namesake, whenever we try to communicate with them they abuse us, well apart from that when u somehow complete it, then starts real problems, no recognition, unpaid trainings, treatment like an uneducated laborer. a graduate from any regular college will be given better salary for the same post but not to us. the process most of the time takes so much of time that we after completing it end up somewhere else, coz in this whole frustrating and long journey we loose our passion and energy , we forget y we joined this particular course and we in end satisfies with whatever comes our way, coz there r people waiting for us to complete, they r dependent on us, n they have almost lost hope on us. so if in the end if we r going to satisfy with anything then y opting for this torture. go to any other college and feel the college environment , coz I really feel that in this whole process I missed this important thing of life. some people may not agree with me but all this I have personally experienced and I can tell u the names of so many students and graduates who r going through the same n heading towards satisfying for anything. so I will never recommend this course for anyone.

Ravi said on Jul 05 2007, 11:45 PM:
From missing college environment point of view, by not having any stipulated time duration, from percentage of marks scored and for many other reasons it's not advisable to do this course.

Paras malviya said on Jul 05 2007, 07:45 PM:
Go for University Driven BTech from Panjab Engg College or MIT, in case didn't qualify for IIT BTech Aero Degree. But just don’t do AMAeSI.

Arivukkarasu.M said on Jul 05 2007, 11:08 AM:
first I would suggest regular colleges because we are missing a lot in AeSI like practical classes.those who are very well interested in aeronautics but unable to join in colleges can join us.

Manish Chauhan said on Jul 05 2007, 10:19 AM:
If you are looking for positives from this course then....I would like to say that I have developed qualities like HARDWORK,DEDICATION,SELF-CONFIDENCE during AeSI....and these are enough to excel into the field....I don't think one develops such qualities during simple B.E.

Sudhir Joshi said on Jul 05 2007, 09:23 AM:
I suggest to join the regular College first but if not able to join (due to some circumstances) then it is better to join the Course specially AMAeSI. As Students learns a lot in Engineering College : New opportunity,Campus environment, Regular Practical , Interaction......

sukhbinder said on Jul 05 2007, 07:01 AM:
Unless the society as such doesn't change I am very reluctant to recommend AMAeSI to anyone let alone friends and family. Examination and transparency is the most needed in AeSI. Or it will just remain the money generating wing of AeSI!!!

Rohit Kumar said on Jul 04 2007, 09:47 AM:
I would suggest students to take up this course simply because of the fact that its the course of the future. Aerospace industry is booming in India and we are short of aeronautical engineers.

Prasath said on Jul 04 2007, 04:55 AM:
AeSI students need to complete with in stipulated time. due to longer time period students are suffering to settle.

N.Srinivasan said on Jul 03 2007, 11:30 PM:
yes it is true what Uma Maheshwar said . Many of the students r suffering badly as I am one among them . It is better to go to the regular college scoring high percentage completing within a fixed period and can apply for all colleges for higher studies.

sadasivam said on Jul 03 2007, 12:31 PM:
Not necessarily. By doing AMAeSI one can aim going for a PG in a short period. He will the so called environment there. Even otherwise there are lot many opportunities now in airline sector on maintenance.

Uma Maheshwar Y said on Jul 03 2007, 07:28 AM:
I suggest the students to undergo regular college environment. By doing A.M.Ae.S.I, one has to miss many career opportunities.

So tell me Will you recommend AMAeSI to your friends and family?
