7 Reasons Why You Should do Internship

How can a person get a job since There is a huge gap between academics and industry ..?

We have syllabus which is almost half century old and this industry is at latest technology than how we are capable for its job..?

What we shall do to fill gap between academics and industry ..?

Answer of all above question is to do internship.

What is internship ...?

if we look at Wikipedia than it states as An internship is a job training for white-collar and professional careers. Internships for professional careers are similar in some ways to apprenticeships for trade and vocational jobs, but the lack of standardization and oversight leaves the term open to broad interpretation.

which means that you can have insight of an industry by having internship.

As a fresher it will be a added point to as compared to others when it comes to a point of job searching.

There are many advantages of having internship which you get read from here .But to be brief i will summarize that article bellow

  • Gain work experience and transferable skills
  • possibly earn money
  • Be able to experience a prospective career path
  • Gain practical experience
  • network with professionals in your field for reference and future job opportunities .
  • Develop new skills and refine others
  • Gain confidence in your abilities.
More I will be sharing in the next articles .
Please do share your thoughts and experience about internship in comment section.
Hope you had liked it.

Master Tip for Job Hunt

Are there any jobs in Aerospace..?
I did three mistakes in my life ....1st I took engineering ,2nd is aeronautical engineering and last one is AeSI.
This is what one of my reader told me  but I do not agree with him.

Let me try to explain it here....In this competitive world  its very important to get start our career from anywhere.

Finding a job is like finding a seat in a crowded bus where everyone wants to have seat but most of passengers will wait till the next stop come so someone vacate the seat and he/she capture the seat but you know there are some smart passengers ,even though there is no space to seat they will ask the co passenger to move and in 90 % case he/she gets succeeded to get a place to seat .

It just requires a little attempt.

Even if there is no job in any organization ,you should try to convince interviewer that you will add value to their organization .If job is not there than ask for paid internship ,if its also not there than ask for unpaid internship but somehow manage to have place in the organization .once you are inside it's all upto you how much big you can make out of this.

Have similiar experience...?

Please do share with us in comment section.

TOP Link your career with LINKEDIN

Hello Everyone,

You all must be knowing about LinkedIn and might be having account also but very few are aware of how exactly use it so in this article I will suggest you some way by which you can use LinkedIn in a such a way that it can boost up your career graph.

If you search in Wikipedia about LinkedIn, you will end up finding that,

"
LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking service. Founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking. In 2006, LinkedIn increased to 20 million viewers. As of June 2013, LinkedIn reports more than 259 million acquired users in more than 200 countries and territories.

"

Features

The basic functionality of LinkedIn allows users (workers and employers) to create profiles and "connections" to each other in an online social network which may represent real-world professional relationships. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection. However, if the invitee selects "I don't know" or "Spam", this counts against the inviter. If the inviter gets too many of such responses, the account may be restricted or closed.
This list of connections can then be used in a number of ways:
  • Obtaining introductions to the connections of connections (termed second-degree connections) and connections of second-degree connections (termed third-degree connections)
  • Users can find jobs, people and business opportunities recommended by someone in one's contact network.
  • Employers can list jobs and search for potential candidates.
  • Job seekers can review the profile of hiring managers and discover which of their existing contacts can introduce them.
  • Users can post their own photos and view photos of others to aid in identification.
  • Users can follow different companies and can receive notifications about the new joining and offers available.
  • Users can save (i.e. bookmark) jobs that they would like to apply for.
  • Users can "like" and "congratulate" each other's updates and new employments.
  • Users can see who has visited their profile page.
The "gated-access approach" (where contact with any professional requires either an existing relationship, or the intervention of a contact of theirs) is intended to build trust among the service's users. LinkedIn participates in the EU's International Safe Harbor Privacy Principles.

recently I had completed certificate course on Linkedin - Social Media Marketing from udemy and I found that it will be also useful to everyone. Off course this course is free on udemy ,attend it nicely .Its duration is rarely 1 hour.

Hope you will find this article useful,
Kindly share your experience with linkedin in comment section.

Modi Priteshkumar Mahendrakumar

What you should do in Section-B (Avionics) which you don’t know.

I came across many situations where AeSI recent graduates have to walk together with the engineering graduates of Electronics background in order to get selected in an interview. I know it is damn difficult but not impossible. The fact remains the same that many Avionics engineers are working as an Embedded Software/Hardware engineer. Henceforth it is very much essential to learn the basics of various safety, security and mission critical standards, software and hardware. Unfortunately it is not a module of your Section-B syllabus however by spending few hours a week; one can certainly assure that he gets a job after completing his engineering degree.

Case study: I have recently joined a company where it is very much essential to know the basics of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety. I certainly wasn’t aware about these terminologies hence I have started taking advantage of social media. I have downloaded certain videos from YouTube on reliability basics and then I have downloaded couple of white papers about various methods of reliability predictions. No doubt, I wasn’t able to grab all things in one time but I certainly have learned new things. One should always remember that learning is an ongoing process.
I strongly recommend you to learn the basics of following modules before you start job hunting:
-
  1. Requirements Engineering: Learn the basics of requirements engineering.
  2. Design, Modeling and Simulation basics: You can learn many things at Mathworks website.
  3. You have C, C++ as a module in Microprocessor & Software Engineering subject of Section-A. However getting is the right answer can never make you a good programmer. It is very much essential that you should know the art of writing software code. MISRA – C, C++ can help you in doing the same. There are various technical FAQ and discussion threads available on official website of MISRA.
  4. Basics of Software Testing. Specially modules like static analysis, unit testing, code coverage.
  5. Basics of In Circuit Emulators and hardware debuggers.
  6. Reliability Prediction standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, NPRD 95, etc.  How organizations predict reliability and do impact analysis. Google modules like Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, etc.
  7. Hardware Debuggers
  8. Basics of compilers, IDE, RTOS, middleware, etc.
I know that being a student, it is very difficult to learn these many things but if you know at least the basics so I am sure that nobody can stop you in getting a good job.

Start asking “W” questions like
What is it?
Why is it used?
What are the methods?
Which companies are the best in each area?
How the knowledge of it can help me in my career?
& many more.

Happy Learning! Please let us know if you require any additional support or information from our side. You may mail your queries as a comment below.

Cheers!

Distance BTech under threat

Recently I got this email from two people. I have forwarded the email to AeSIAA team.

If you have any more information regarding this please comment and let us know.

sir,
we r having a serious problem:-
Beware! Distance BTech under threat-
As per an order by the ministry of HRD, technical education in distance mode will now be fully regulated by AICTE. Keep an eye before applying online.

If you are planning to enrol in AMIE, AMIETE, DIPIETE or similar
correspondence courses in technical education, do wait for some time.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has withdrawn its decision of recognising these courses in perpetuity for equivalence in
Central Government jobs.

Now the institutions conducting such courses will have to apply for
recognition from the statutory regulator, that is, AICTE in this case,
and it will decide about the new regulations for them.

What is the issue?

An order dated 10/07/2012 by MHRD says, "All those students who are
enrolled with the institutions with permanent recognition up to
31.05.2013 would be eligible for consideration in accordance with MHRD office memorandum/ order in force pertaining to their course for
equivalence in Central Government jobs.

However, these concerned orders will cease to have effect from
01.06.2013 onwards.

After 31.05.2013, based on the review by the regulator i.e. AICTE, a
decision on continuation of the certification of equivalence of
degree/diploma shall be taken by statutory regulator.

And the statutory regulators should review the fresh proposals/
extension as per their statute and regulations." The HRD notification means that now the institutes concerned conducting courses in correspondence mode will have to take approval from AICTE before June 1, 2013 to make sure that the students enrolled after May 31, 2013, could pursue well approved courses.

But another issue which comes up here is that AICTE presently does not
recognise correspondence courses, so it will have to make new policy
for such courses. AICTE has already started working on new regulations.

AICTE chairman Dr SS Mantha shares, "Currently AICTE does not recognise distance/correspondence courses in technical education. But many institutions including some universities are running these courses on the basis of perpetual approval given by MHRD."

"Now After the recent order given by MHRD, AICTE will make rules and
regulations regarding this," he added.

AICTE had earlier appointed a committee headed by Prof Anandkrishnan and on the basis of the recommendations of that committee, it will make regulations for distance learning in technical education.

"By March, we should be able to release the handbook of procedures and regulations for the conduct of technical education either in distance
or hybrid or blended mode", says Mantha. Shocked by the MHRD's decision, institutions says that they will now respond only after the publication of AICTE guidelines.

"We would apply to AICTE for approval and would abide by its guidelines and regulations," says the spokesperson of The Institution of Surveyors.

Some other institutes say that they would apply as soon as possible.

......................................................................................................................

frm internal sources,i got d info dat,as usual AeSI officials are not
serious on dis issue. its question of career of thousands of student. so PLZzz.. its my humble request 2 u to forward our query to AeSIAA & AeSI HQ.

Messy and haphazard

"..... life is messy and haphazard, full of quirky contingencies, unexpected bifurcations, serendipitous discoveries, unanticipated encounters, and unpredictable outcomes"

This is an expert from the book I am reading. The believing brain.

It's so true for a career path too. The career path you imagine and you take always do not follow a linear curve.

There will always be unexpected bifurcations like choosing one stream over other, serendipitous discovery of your own programming skills and unanticipated interview calls put in the industry.

So how to make sure that you are making the best of this fact. Well plan ahead but don't over plan. Keep the destination but allow the randomness to define the course.

If you are in section a, best advice is explore everything. If you are in section b, the advice is build an asset. Learn something and share it. If you are in your first job or in training, learn to say yes with new opportunity that come your way.

You don't launch a high flying career....

You don't launch a popular blog, you build one.

You don't launch a high flying career, you create one.

You don't build world class products in a day, you evolve them.

You don't become expert in a day; you become one over a long haul.

iPhone was not built in a day, neither was the gas turbine engine, nor was the mission to moon a success from day one and Sachin Tendulkar didn't become world class player with one match.

Each of this took countless hours, enduring effort and untiring commitment.

Same goes for passing AeSI exams, for getting that first job, creating a successful blog and creating a product.

Nothing comes in one shot, everything happens drip by drip. So the best strategy is to begin building your career, blog, expertise and product now. Build it daily and in some years you will have something that will be greater than the effort you have put.

Life without Aim !!!!

Day 1 :
Someone from an University called me and asked guidance about Avionics. He said that he is doing research from last 7-8 years but he is not able to connect with right person who can help him in converting his vision into reality.

He told me that he meet with engineers of various DRDO laboratories but didn't get any response. Add on to it he also told me that he looks forward to connect with right person in the industry who can support his project and give direction in a positive way.

Day 2:
After my AeSI Alumni Association's meeting, I meet him. We ordered fresh juice with sandwich and our discussion started. I was very excited to meet this person and to know more about his research. Trust me he was very energetic and I was able to see a "Can Do!" spirit in his face.

BUT suddenly my expectations turned into ashes.

Based on his projects, I found that he is very much interested in Aircraft Navigation, Instruments and related Avionics. I asked him if you love Avionics and want to make your career in Avionics so why are you doing internship in CFD ?

He replied that my college told me to do the same.

I don't want to name such universities but yes, I know 2-3 universities in North India where I have noticed similar education pattern. Irrespective of the area of interest, students join some softwares and after finishing the course, they realized that it's nothing to do with my area of interest.

Conclusion : Let's walk together and help the industry. Whenever you see something wrong or fraud anywhere, Stand and raise your voice. Be United !!!

God bless all

M.B.A. || M.S. || M.Tech

I have learned the below mentioned things in this week. I hope you’ll find it worth tracking also do let me know if you believe in a different methodology or if you want to add something to it.

1. There are two ways to run a business either be a follower or a leader.
2. If you are creating new possibilities so make sure that you are the one who drives first on the road which you have created and always ensure to be the leader.
3. If the market is growing at a speed of x and you are growing at a speed which is less than 2x than it means you’re not a market leader.
4. Database management is the most powerful tool which drives any business. We can say that the pillar’s strength of any product based company depends on how good database do we have.
5. Adopting pull methodology is more powerful than the popular push
method. It’s better to have it if you want to sustain in a growth oriented
market and for the long run.

From today onwards I’ll share my weekly learning with you. We have a tradition of doing M.Tech. or M.S. after AeSI however I would like to tell
you that one can also do M.B.A. after AeSI. If you would ask me to comment on career prospective after M.B.A. so I’ll say that most of the companies are facing shortage of engineering management profiles. Couple of days back my friend who is working as a Technical Recruiter in a MNC was trying to find out few profiles (B.E.+M.B.A.) but he wasn’t able to find out any such profile. I tried to refer any profile but unfortunately I didn’t find a single profile related to engineering management.

Do what you like and like what you love.
All the best!

An Interview that will help you.

interview-aesi-progress

Someone I know is going through an interview process and he was kind and generous enough to send me the list of question he was asked in his interviews.

So for the benefit of all, here are the question. For privacy reasons, identifiable data has been stripped and changed.

Yesterday I gave an interview in ABC company  for the post  AB Engineer. I've cleared all the rounds including the one taken by the Managing Director and my final interview is on Saturday. I don't know what will happen but I'll try my best. I'm sharing the interview questions asked by me so that It can be helpful for others through My-AeSI blog.

Round-1

- I developed good professional relation with the H.R. through LinkedIn so my first round was easy. He just asked me about my educational qualification & career objective.

Round-2

- Tell me something about yourself ?

- You have done engineering through correspondence mode so how did you manage practicals ?

- Tell me about the projects you have done during academics ?

- What is your career objective  ?

- What is Avionics and what all subjects have you studied in Section-B ?

- You have not made any aircraft related project, all of your projects are of Embedded & Robotics. Why ?

- Tell me about your strength ?

- What is the role of embedded system in Aircraft ?

- Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years ?

- Being an engineer, Why are you doing M.B.A. ?

Round-3 (With the Managing Director)

- I'm giving you 5 minutes. Let me know about you, your family, education, projects and all in detail.

- Why are you interested in engineering management ?

- Even though there are thousands unemployed engineers in Bangalore so Why should I recruit you ?

- I'll be investing lots of money on you, projects, clients and all... After 6 months or 1 year, you'll learn the technology and join any other company. Why should I give you this opportunity ?

- How you can contribute to the field and the company ?
- Okay I'm assigning you a task. Have a look on our website, understand what we do ? and so on... and then send an email (letter) to the H.R. on "How can you contribute to this company ?"  If I like your letter, I'll call you for final session and It'll be around 30 minutes discussion.

I've sent him the forwarded email. I hope I'll get a chance to give final interview. I'm sharing it so that It can be helpful for others.

Hope this helps everybody and don't forget to mention and send your thanks and good luck to the thoughtful guy who shared this information in the first place through the comments. I am sure he will be reading them.

Thank you.

AeSI and Job & other questions

clown

Rahul has left a new comment on your post "Teach and Learn":

1. If modules like DO178B, V&V, LDRA etc are so important to work in Avionics stream then why the hell society still have 8051, Basic Language and all in it's MODIFIED syllabus. 8051 is no longer basic now. Why you people of AeSI Alumni Association don't do anything in this subject ?

2. I've read Himalya Bhaiya's post about a cost effective recruitment process at LinkedIn.. Why you people don't do anything to make it possible ?

3. I went to "Cranes & Software House" in Bangalore.. They told me that it's a 6-8 months course. Does it suit the personality of Aeronautical Engineer to sit jobless for another 6-8 months after degree ? Don't say that do it in last semester. as you must be aware that doing software and giving paper of aesi is a big game. society's paper are not like state board exam.

Rahul

First of all. AeSIAA members are graduates of AeSI who have teamed up to form a formal association for the betterment of students and graduates of AeSI. We provide a platform. Since each voluntary member of AeSIAA is graduate, we dont remember or seek problem to solve. But if there's a request or issue, we help you to place it before AeSI. So if you have a query, formally write an email to AeSIAA and it will be taken forward.

2. Recruitment. Each and everyone if us is trying to do a bit of wherever he or she can. But before we can confidently put AeSI graduates forward we have to make sure that the graduates are prepared. So in this vein, AeSIAA is taking steps to build confidence and teach presenting skills though workshops. and seminars This is the most basic need which will lead to better results than pushing an unprepared AeSI graduate to hr.

3. Don't tell me how big a game AeSI study is. But if you need job and that too just getting out of AeSI, start building skills. The knowledge you get in AeSI is just the mass but the skills you build are the acceleration that you have to have to generate any force or thrust. Remember F = m.a ! Unless you have both, job immediately after graduation will be tough. So start cultivating skills along side studying for AeSI.

Hope this answers your questions.

Teach and Learn

blackboard.teachNlearn

Let's do it

The best way to really learn something is to teach it to someone.

Well then here's a proposal to each of you guys visiting/reading this blog.

Let's start teaching.

The idea is to create a PowerPoint / video or document on any topic that you are studying and post it online for anyone to read and learn. The doc can be of any kind and on any topic that you choose but with the sole aim to teach something.

The Ground Rules:
1. Create the material focusing on one single topic at a time.
2. It should actually teach. The aim should be that if our grandmother reads or viewed it she would understood the subject.
3. Make it brief.
4. It should be sharable via google docs.
5. Send me the link for the via comments

What's the benefit to you?
1. You will learn the subject better and will never forget it again.
2. You will have the joy of helping someone.
3. You are sharing your insight with the world.
4. You are creating an asset you can have bragging rights about.
5. Creating this will help improve your presentation and communication skills.

So are you game? Are you willing to take on the challenge?

I will create a separate page on this blog to showcase all the material that will be submitted.

As an additionally motivation, the person to contribute the maximum number will get a prize from me by the end of the year.

So let's do it.

Any question/suggestion or comment shoot me an email.

Alumni Interactions consists of many useful programs such as talks by distinguished alumni and corporate personalities and direct non-monetary help from alumni like sharing their experience in their area of expertise, providing opportunities to students in form of internships, work-visits, workshops, informal placement information talks and many more.

Alumni Talks - Questions about what stream to choose, the growth and prospects in any sector become the thoughts that hound everyone. To help students overcome these uncertainties, alumni are invited to give an informal talk on their respective sectors, enlightening the students about the career choices and what they are in for in that line of work.

Panel Discussion - A panel consisting of alumni, faculty and student representative is invited to discuss on a student centric topic. We wish to hold a discussion on a topic with far reaching consequences. SAM will be a platform for alumni to gather and discuss and debate on topics that matter. Suggestions are precious and we welcome any thoughts and ideas students may have during this event.

Mock interview (through Workshop on Soft Skills )- We are planning this event with the vision that passing out students (during June-12 Session results) can be benefited by experiencing mock interviews by alumni before they sit for their actual interviews.

Tips to send Job Application via email.

Market Leaders use BrassRing to accept Job Applications, however there are so many entry level companies which accept the Job Application through an email.

The common queries about this application process are :
- What should I write in an email, while sending Job Application ?
- What is the best way to send Job Application ?
- How to develop recruiter's interest in the profile ?
- What exactly does a company expect from a candidate ?
& the list goes on .... Isn't it ?

The first step is to spend time in understanding the company's profile through website. Make a note of it's current projects.

1- Subject of the email :
It helps recruiters & the system to filter profiles according to the job hence selecting relevant subject matters a lot.
> Mention the job code in the subject (if any)
> If you don't know the job code so use subject like "Job Application" etc..

2- Greetings & Salutation :
Always remember that First impression is the last impression.
If you're interested so you can greet the recruiter as well. Example "Greetings of the day !"
Begin your email with "Dear Mr./Mrs. Last Name" and if you don't know the last name so you can use "Dear Recruitment Manager"
> Salutation is always used with the last name.

3- Introduction :
Begin by stating what job you are applying for. Explain where you heard about the job, particularly if you heard about it from a contact associated with the company.
Briefly mention how your skills and experience match the company and/or position; this will give the employer a preview of the rest of your letter.
Example :
If the company deals in Unmanned Air Vehicle & you've made a project on it during your academics so mention it.
If it deals in Antenna & Navigation and you've scored good marks in the Section-B paper of Radio so mention it.
(Mentioning the skills of CFD while applying for a job of "Pilot" or "Avionics Technician" will never help you.)
> It's very necessary to mention Job specific skills & experience.

4- Closing :
Restate how your skills make you a strong fit for the company and/or position. State that you would like to interview and/or discuss employment opportunities.
Example :
Looking forward for your positive response and to shake hands with the future projects.
Looking forward for your positive response and to be a part of team-My AeSI asap.
Looking forward for your positive response and a long term career with Himalya Group.

Key Points to remember :

  1. An email Job Application should be no more than one page long.
  2. Use a professional font such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri. The font size should be between 10 and 12 points.
  3. It should be properly organized, formatted and spaced so it's readable and makes the best impression on the recruitment manager.
  4. Attach a nicely crafted resume. (Resume differs from company to company. Always remember that mentioning relevant skills, experience, projects and achievements matter a lot)
  5. Include your contact information at the end of the Job Application.

Cheers !

Green Signal for Indian Aviation.

It's the perfect time for Indian Aviation to launch towards victory. Mr. Ravi Dighe, Head of Aptech Aviation said that India has an order of 400 aircraft for the next decade. It will have an investment of approx $30 billion. This will throw up opportunities of 19,000 cabin crew, 24,000 technicians and 36,000 ground staff.

Jet Airways is also planning to launch aviation academy with a total investment of Rs. 1 Crore. It will be the second domestic airline to foray into the aviation education segment after Kingfisher. I'm very sure that it will help a lot to meet future's needs.

According to the data available with the stock exchange, the holding of foreign institutional investors increased in all three domestic air career Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines & Spice Jet. Click Here to read the complete story.

Introduction of Air Mantra, Airbus's order of Indigo Airlines and some above mentioned facts clearly indicates that It's a Green Signal for the Indian Aviation to launch towards victory.

Cheers !
