Hi,

On behalf of AeSIAA, I would like to invite all Bangalore based student members looking for internship opportunity to attend the EC meeting scheduled on 22nd (Saturday at 9.30am) and represent their interest/cases if any. Other outstation candidates can send the request through mail as usual. This meeting will be also attended by working alumnus and hence creates an opportunity for meet them and get some insight. How to complete what you began?

Online courses and MOOC's are getting popular these days. They accentuated knowledge and gives students and everyone second opportunity to build their learning. 

But as I have noted somewhere else, not many complete the courses they sign up.   Being online and free is its greatest strength and weakness.

Coolest Carpenter Around

Someone rightly said you can't do much carpentry with bare hands!! You need tools. To be good at carpentry you need the right tools. To produce something good, your bare hands aren't just enough.

Same way, as you walk your way to be an engineer, just knowledge isn't enough. Only knowing how the aerofoil generates lifts or solving bending moment problem isn't enough. To be effective as and engineer, You need tools.

So as you are walking towards the path of getting your degree, and if you are in your penultimate semester, start getting those tools.

Tools along with the knowledge that you are acquiring during this phase of AeSI will make you the coolest carpenter around when you graduate!!

Blade Nomenclature Explained.

When I was in AeSI, I had hard time remembering the nomenclature of a gas turbine engine blade. It's very similar terminology and similar sounding angle names always confused me.

When I entered the industry, I found blade is essential and I can't escape it. So I decided to finally learn about it.

A week back, I revisited the topic and with animated gif's getting more common, I decided to make an animated gif to teach anyone or everyone interested in blade nomenclature.

No Guarantees

There are no guarantees in life, but the odds are that if you can take care of these 3 things in your life, the rest will take care of itself.

1. Be good at one thing. The 'thing' doesn't matter. What matters is that you are better at one thing than anybody else. Build that skill. Hone it so much that its shines through even in dark. Being good at one thing and knowing about it will inject confidence.

2. Be a marketeer. Marketing is not a skill only needed by a corporation. You, as an individual, need it more. To market yourself. To market your creations. To showcase your work. To articulate and defend your thoughts. Even Apple's iPhone needs marketing. So cultivate marketing skills!

3. Be the salt. Ask any chef, or cook, whatever dish he or she prepares if there isn't salt, it isn't anything. Salt adds value. It completes the flavor. Same way aim to add value in whatever you do. Be it work, study, or any assignment. The more value you add, the more valuable you become.

-       Strong application of engineering principles and theories in structural analysis

-       Experience/ Exposure to composites (Laminates and Sandwich Panels)

-       Very good knowledge of NASTRAN/PATRAN and Hypermesh

-       Working knowledge of Catia V5

-       Highly proficient in MS Office Tools

-       Good analytical and problem-solving skills
